History and civics lessons come alive for students when they're delivered by a veteran of America's Armed Forces.

The Joe Foss Institute, a Valley-based nonprofit organization "dedicated to inspiring youth to patriotic public service," helps connect veterans with teachers. Those veterans then go into classrooms to share their service stories. But to make it happen, more volunteer veterans are needed.

If you are a veteran in the East Valley and want to share your experiences with our youth, call the Joe Foss Institute at (480) 348-0316. The organization provides training before you enter a classroom.

Information can also be found at joefossinstitute.org.
