If you're looking for an energetic, but easygoing dog the whole family will love - you've found him. River, a 4-year-old border collie, has all the natural fast learner talents his breed is blessed with - and he loves, loves, loves people.
The folks as AZ RESCUE nursed River through pneumonia when they saved him from the euthanasia list. And now, this affectionate, handsome fellow just wants to love everyone. He thoroughly enjoys contact with people, from petting to snuggling to having his ears rubbed. And he loves to play - especially if it means taking on his favorite human in a challenging match of tug-of-war with any of his toys.
River is a smart, hard-working dog who loves to be trained and to learn new things. AZ RESCUE says he "walks like a dream" on his leash, and he's already mastered "sit" and "stay," among other talents. He can even open doors.
For more information on River, or other deserving animals, call Reducing Animal Euthanasia at Shelters through Commitment and Underlying Education at (480) 598-9410 or visit www.azrescue.org. The cost of adoption is $125 for cats and $150 for dogs, which includes spaying and neutering and some inoculations.
