Drowning is one of the leading causes of child deaths. So Fulton Homes is trying to save lives by giving away 12 free pool fences to families in need.

Valley residents can nominate themselves or a deserving family for a fence. Nominations are due by July 4 and can be made by logging on to www.kmle108.com and clicking on the Fence Patrol icon.

According to childrensafetyzone.com, in the first three months of 2011, there have already been eight water-related deaths in Maricopa County, including two children. There have also been a total of 20 water-related incidents in the first quarter of 2011. In 2010, 48 deaths, including 20 children, resulted from 140 water-related incidents.
