“When Bill Austin signed off, some of the laughter in this Valley signed off with him. Thank you Bill for years of joy. I feel as if a wonderful friend has died. Prayers to Beth, Marty, Vinney and all of the KEZ family. RIP Bill.”

“If the land in Pinal County that Mesa owns is worth $100 million, as Mesa city officials say, let’s sell the land to them for $84 million. They get a good deal, Mesa pays cash for the new Cubs stadium and everyone wins.”

“Watching Sir Paul McCartney perform for President Obama and his court made me realize that the only thing preventing President Obama from becoming King Obama is our Constitution. Long live our Constitution!”

“So, those of us who didn’t fly an American flag on Memorial Day should be ashamed? I didn’t fly a flag that day and I’m not ashamed.  I am also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served 20 years. I wonder how many years the complainer served in our armed forces.  Flying the flag in support of our military is appreciated, but that isn’t the only way to show support.  Even a moment of silence, or saying thanks to a service member/veteran is appreciated. I served for the right of each American to have the freedom to make choices like that.”

“It is laughable to even consider in this day and age, but I can’t help but believe that some non-thinking, rhetoric-spouting, Al Sharpton-type is going to claim that because it is in Arizona, the new ’50s-style bathroom at the Gilbert share-a-ride parking lot is probably segregated. It makes about as much sense as the mindless drivel that has been spouted in protest of the SB1070 law; but that won’t stop some from making an issue about the ‘tissue.’ ”

“I love the new John McCain when I see him on with the talking heads. John will never get my vote, but I sure hope he gets nominated for an Oscar. The old John will be back before you know it.”

“Thank you Bill Merritt of Mesa. I could not have expressed it better.”
