“The stimulus jobs for Mesa have started. I saw a crew of seven electrical workers at University and Gilbert roads today laying a large cable. Two guys were in the hole working, and the other five guys in vests were standing around 'supervising.’ ”

“If Sheriff Joe’s operations 'hit residential areas in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley,’ as one Venter suggests, the rich folks and resorts up that way would whine about him taking away all of their landscapers, nannies, maids, drivers, cooks, etc.”

“I am tired of hearing about racial discrimination. Years ago I was on a police department and we arrested blacks for shoplifting, purse snatching, or robbery and it was always the same thing — we were targeting them because they were black. … I never arrested a white man and had him claim we were picking on him because he was white. I feel blacks use this as a crutch.”

“So a bomber and a plagiarist are making an appearance at the University of Colorado in support of free speech. Since when is attempted murder and plagiarism forms of protected speech? Of course this is an event sponsored by liberals.”

“Liberals, who desperately hoped that Bush would fail in Iraq,

love to take Rush Limbaugh’s comment about 'wanting Obama to fail’ out of context. As Rush explained, if Obama’s success means the end of capitalism and the beginning of a socialistic nanny-state in America, then yes, he wants him to fail.”

“President Lyndon Johnson’s administration was known

for his war on poverty. President Obama’s will become notable

for his war on prosperity.”

“I turned on C-SPAN the other day just in time for the House vote on a proclamation to honor USC for its Rose Bowl victory. Whew! Now that problem is out of the way, maybe they will be able to focus on the small problems of our country.”

“I recently read that many Europeans view Americans as ignorant louts. I can see why, when we go around making statements such as 'Mexico did claim this land … then happily sold it to the USA, feeling fortunate to get money for a barren wasteland. (Vent, Feb. 27 )’ Try this: we invaded with an army, just like Saddam did in Kuwait in the 1990s.”

“It looks like George Bush is getting ready to write his memoirs. He was seen at a store in Texas buying a large box of color crayons.”

“Read the Tribune’s 'Our View’ (Feb. 27) titled 'Obama’s budget magic? Poof! More debt.’ As you’re aware, Obama is not the first president to run up a big deficit to get our country out of a pickle. I’m convinced that the conservative media isn’t going to give him a break just because he’s African-American.”

“Regarding the attorneys and judges concerned about deportation — their only concern is their wallets. They don’t care about our country or the taxpayers. The only right the illegals have is the right to go home.”
