"My prayers go out to the family of Bruce Harrolle, the DPS medic killed in a tragic yet senseless accident (Tribune, Wednesday). Once again, hikers, because of their own stupidity, put people like Mr. Harrolle in harm's way. Somehow, they should be punished."

"I see on the news that the United Way is against Prop. 200, the payday loan (initiative). When can you go into a bank and borrow $400, $500? You can't. The minimum you can borrow at the bank is $1,000 and you have to have good credit. You can go to payday loan and borrow up to $500 to fix your broken-down vehicle, pay a doctor or whatever emergency you need."

"I want to challenge all the arm-chair theologians in the East Valley. I want them to tell me why God, if all powerful, just doesn't send down a thunderbolt to make us all believe the same thing."

"Doctors recommend double doses of vitamin D for children (Tribune, Monday), which helps the pharmacies. But (they) don't push for more outdoor playtime after school, instead of TV or computer gaming."

"I've decided I need to get a life. My biggest joy in the day is hitting the mute button."

"For the idiot who doesn't want to pay more school taxes because he doesn't have kids (Vent, Monday), the reason you pay for it is because they're going to pay your Social Security. So you might want them to have decent jobs and education."

"If the right to vote is a federal right from our government embedded in our Constitution ... why in the world do we not have national oversight when it comes to registration and why on earth don't we have a national voter ID law?"

"Are you better off than you were two years ago, before this Congress? I am not. I'm hurting. My IRA is hurting. My retirement is hurting. My gas tank is hurting. My gas tank is hurting. My pocket is hurting. Does Congress care? Heck, no. I'm just hurting."

"Today, I woke up and realized the American dream is gone. You can't buy a house. You can't make enough money on one income to live in a house. Your retirement's gone; you've got to go back to work. What future does America hold?"

"(Neither) McCain or Obama want to bail you out. You're the taxpayer. You're the one this country runs on. Where's our bailout?"

"Wow! Three weeks 'til the election, and another al-Qaida in Iraq leader has been killed, first one since the election in 2006. How amazing!"

"To the venter who is whining about Salt River Project's rates. We have the best service and the lowest rates in the nation. Turn your thermostat up a couple of degrees and quit griping."

"If the Wildcat fans don't like the coverage in our Valley paper, they can go back to Tucson. We are a Sun Devil paper."

"I enjoy reading the Vent while I'm having breakfast. I enjoy hearing everyone's comments and opinions, no matter who stupid they may be."

"You know, you newspeople need to get a life. Sarah Palin was winking at her dad, who was in the front row."
