"If people were not charged with a crime, when their carelessness resulted in the deaths of small children in their hot automobile, then why was (Sgt. Tom) Lovejoy going to court? An animal's life cannot be compared to a human life. Then again, since 1973, when abortion became legal, human life became insignificant."

"Sgt. Lovejoy ... should be locked in a car in August along with the judge who let him off."

"I hope that Lovejoy never gets another canine as he's very forgetful and it could happen again."

"Hey, Sheriff Joe: You muffed this one. Lovejoy got away. Yay! Thank goodness for the judge. Love him. 'Bye, sheriff!"

"All the fuss about a dog dying, and yet when a child drowns, it might get a small mention in the news. That is pathetic."

"First, let me say, I am a huge dog lover. I have three dogs of my own, and they're like my kids. Having said that, I'd like to say, Sgt. Tom Lovejoy being acquitted for the death of Bandit is justice. He made a mistake. Let those among us who are without sin cast the first stone. I'm glad that it's over for Sgt. Lovejoy and his family."

"Here I pay good money for your paper - and why I don't know - but, do I really have to read about Cindy McCain's hand injury or wrist injury by an overzealous hand-shaker? Come on, there's got to be better news than that."

"A local law firm's latest TV ad advises that considering the current economic situation, 'now is a great time to declare bankruptcy.' Wow. ... Just how low can these ambulance-chasers go?"

"Telemarketers are so great. I was in a nursing home and the phone rang and I answered it for one of the patients. And it was a telemarketer who said, 'The warranty on your car is about to run out. This is your last call.' "

"I'm not a prude or anything, but I really have to wonder if these Olympics are really for family viewing. The Venezuelan women's volleyball team's uniforms pretty much consists of their T-shirts and their panties."

"I'm calling in because I'm watching the Olympics ... and you know what? China is stunningly beautiful."

"I'm really disgusted with the coverage of the Olympics. I just have regular cable. (They show) hours and hours of sand volleyball and hours and hours of boxing. And there are so many other events I'd like to be seeing, at least a little portion of. I really, really think it stinks."

"The Olympic opening ceremonies were spectacular. But take away the computer-generated fireworks in the background and the lip-syncing for a cuter girl, and it kind of takes away from the legitimacy of the ceremony."

"I get so disgusted with the Olympics. They show only the Americans. ... showing the American people competing against the Chinese girls. Why don't they show both teams once in awhile, flash back and forth? I want to see the other countries, not just the American people!"

"I don't want take anything away from Michael Phelps, but has anyone checked his blood for dolphin DNA?"
