“We had proof positive that Bill Clinton harassed and abused women. We also knew he was a draft dodger. We elected him anyway. If he had been a Republican, he would never have even got the nomination.”

“The gaggle of women accusing Herman Cain of sexual harassment are missing a golden opportunity. Don’t they know that they would get much more press and attention if they accused Justin Bieber of a paternity suit?”

“Regardless of Herman Cain’s guilt or innocence, it’s amazing what some people will say and do when they are threatened by a black conservative. The only way to put a stop to these sorts of injustices is to get the accuser(s) and the accused in the same room at the same time and have them all take a lie detector test. And yes, I know the test isn’t 100 percent infallible but it’s close enough and it would put an end to these made-up lies from ever even getting started in the first place. Like the one venter said, ‘if you repeat a lie often enough people start believing it so the need is to prevent them from ever having a chance to start.”

“To the Herman Cain apologizers: If he denies the truth long enough and loud enough, does that make the allegations any less truthful?”

    First and Second Venters:

So you are not planning to vote for Cain. Or are you making excuses for your desire to vote for him anyway?

    Third and Fourth Venters:

    Points well taken.

To the rest of you Neo-cons out there. Where we have two pro and to con Cain comments, doesn't this make the Tribune balanced and fair?

1st Venter - I don’t think there is “proof positive” of Clinton harassing or abusing anyone. He was a womanizer for sure and it seems he did try ways to avoid Vietnam. He was, however, elected president because he was/is a very intelligent man. He was elected twice by both Democrats and Republicans. Those on the right were relentless and spent millions of dollars looking for evidence of misconduct (mostly sexual) to impeach him and they did. He was charged with perjury for lying about sexual encounters. The Venter’s implication is that somehow being a Republican there is a higher standard for sexual intolerance when Clinton is proof that there is not. Republicans put themselves on a high moral pedestal and they are always falling off and falling a long way.

2nd Venter - You are wasting people’s time by writing nonsense.

3rd Venter - Herman Cain problems are not because some are “threatened” by a “black conservative”. The threat is from an ignorant person running for president regardless of color or political affiliation. These “made up lies” were settled by the NRA over a decade ago - long before Herman Cain was known. It is Herman Cain that has denied that there were any cases against him, then remembered, then couldn’t recall, then said the women were lying. None of that really matters. Herman Cain doesn’t have what it takes to be president. He doesn’t seem to know much about American history, doesn’t know much about the Constitution, certainly doesn’t know economics, and doesn’t think knowing about foreign policy is important. That is why he shouldn’t be president. However, for Democrats, he would be a dream come true if he were the GOP nominee! Let him be!

Use your head, you don't drug a race horse a year before the race, this a Republican smear tactic on Cain by Republicans. A Democrat would use this information ten months from now. Look at the Republicans Cain is running against now.

Excellent insight, "truth." Wish'd I'd thought of it!

Yet I still have one observation to make. I'm not convinced that these allegations are tactics, let alone smear tactics. I've known far too many high powered executives who do get away with antics like this and have heard complaints about them from many women. The undisputed fact is that the National Restaurant Association chose to settle the complaints of the two women who did complain and now speak up. And no doubt there are more who did not so choose to complain. We many even have others who did complain, got settlements and have kept quiet.

But unlike Paterno at Penn State, Cain is likely to succeed in not having to answer these charges substantively with anything other than audacious denials. Joe got fired for being insensitive to the troubles his staff was causing, the sort of troubles which in most other states would lead those who kept silent to jail! Arizona is one of those states!

Gee, I've heard liberals say time and again: "Innocent until proven guilty". It seems that it's only for Democrats.....
