"(Thursday's) editorial about offshore drilling and Congress is wrong. It's a Republican plot to embarrass Democrats and it's going to blow up in their face in November when the gas companies keep the price up at $4 and there's no new oil produced from drilling for eight to 10 years."

"It is not reasonable to drill for more oil to bring down gas prices. We do not have a shortage of oil. Our refineries are working at capacity now and it would take seven to 10 years for any new oil to reach the market. So let the oil companies start drilling on the millions of miles of leases they already have."

"It's a little scary when we have a sheriff who answers to nobody but the voters. That turns him into a vigilante sheriff and the people just goad him on."

"Viva Arpaio! Viva Arapio!"

"Here's an idea. The U.S. Attorney should charge the mayor and each member of the City Council of any 'sanctuary city' which in any way provided 'sanctuary' to any alien who subsequently commits a felony - i.e., San Francisco recently, triple murder - with aiding and abetting."

"The price of gas has no effect on how many cars line up at any of the fast-food restaurants. It all boils down to two things - busy lives and laziness."

"Here's something I don't understand - how I can use about the same amount of electricity this month as last month, but my bill doubled?"

"Can anyone explain why the taxpayer has any responsibility for those who let people buy homes with no downpayment? The lender is the one who needs to go under, not us taxpayers."

"If I hear the term 'flip-flop' one more time from either venters or the media, I'm going to puke. That's a stupid term. As far as I'm concerned, it refers to a pair of sandals I own."

"My brother is a priest and he tells me that Jesus loves everyone. Then why so much suffering, war and poverty? There's no proof, just blind faith. No one has any answers. Not even my brother."

"Allowing homosexuals to be openly gay in the military is as bad an idea as letting women shower and bunk with straight guys. How would any of them be able to concentrate on the war?"

"Hard to believe that in 113-degree weather that Tempe Marketplace has an outdoor, gas-fired fireplace blazing away. Only in Arizona."

"Some things will never change. It will always be hot in the summertime in Arizona. We will always have dust storms. And the Cardinals will always ride on the coattails of the Cowboys."

"Why is there not a law concerning trucks and SUVs with oversized tires and not having any mud flaps on the rear tires? I just got my windshield struck by a rock."

"Why is it when you go to a restaurant ... and they have ice tea with lemon, you never get refills on lemon, just ice tea?"

-

"I grow my own tomatoes, too. Every time they start turning red, the birds come around and eat 'em and ruin 'em. So I put up plastic snakes and every time I go to water my plants, I scare the bleep out of myself."
