“Am I the only one who can’t understand why Fox Sports continues to broadcast the ASU home football games live on their blurry regular station while their HD channel sits colorfully in “sign off” mode?”

“(Can) someone explain to me why SRP is asking for a rate increase when they are spending thousands of dollars on TV and print commercials? During D-backs games they are on six times an hour.”

“The bridge over (Tempe Town) Lake to save exercisers some exercise will cost $5.7 million (Tribune, Monday). I didn’t realize that Tempe has an extra $1.55 million in their budget and the federal government is severely in the red. So why would it provide grants for over $4 million for a short cut for walkers and bikers? It sounds worse than the 'bridge to nowhere’.”

“I never tip on takeout orders — that would be the same as tipping at the drive-through. They don’t serve you your food or refill your drink or clean your table — plus half the time they get your order wrong.”

“Hard to find a solution to people dumping on vacant lots (Tribune, Monday)? How hard is it to put up a fence?”

“Regarding (Jenn) Bigelow’s commentary (Opinion 2, Monday) on maturity, maybe she should develop some. OK, the old guy was a boor. But why didn’t she switch seats with the five-year-old (at the movie theater)? He would have been able to see and he wouldn’t have been kicking the man’s seat.”

“Did anyone ever stop to think that if a candidate cannot adhere to city ordinances for posting campaign signs — how in the world can they follow rules for governing? And don’t blame the city. They have neither the time nor the manpower to follow up on such trivial trash.”

“Just what is Sandi Glauser (Opinion 2, Saturday) smoking if she thinks Sarah Palin doesn’t have the experience to be (vice president) while the most inexperienced candidate in 100 years is trying to be the first black president? The disconnect is mind boggling!"

“The big buzz is all Sarah Palin. Am I the only one who thinks she looks like Hank’s wife, Peggy, from 'King Of The Hill’?”

“Hey Linda Turley (Hansen, Opinion 2, Sunday), Sarah Palin ran a town of 9,000, not a city. She was elected on the platform that she was not Frank Murkowski, a notoriously corrupt governor and senator. And she grabbed all the tax dollars she could get."

“Harry Reid thinks Sara Palin is shrill? I don’t think so. There hasn’t been much 'shrill’ on T.V. since Hillary lost the nomination. With 'Shrillary’ out of the picture, my consumption of Advil for jackhammer, head-splitting headaches has all but ceased.”

“Okay, Mrs. I-can-kill-and-dress-a-moose. It’s time you emerge from that undisclosed location the GOP has stuffed you in and start answering some questions about your past. C’mon, Mrs. Barracuda! The other candidates went on all sorts of shows and survived. Let’s see how tough you really are!”

“This paper is a poor representation of what the paper used to be. Perhaps more integrity in the people in charge is in order.”

“It’s time for all you middle-aged men to trade in your noisy gas guzzler compensator pick-up trucks. We could recycle them into toasters or something.”
