“We are scolded by government messages to rely on mass transit. But your car never goes on strike for a greedier deal. Drive away, dude. Also, why can’t upper management get off their duffs and drive the buses during strikes?”

“Headline: ‘Ariz. ruling says police can temporarily take guns’ (Tribune, July 31). I have no real problem with that. But my question is, if Officer Goober shoots himself with my gun, will I be liable?”

“The biggest problem with the current minimum wage is honest people suffer from it, unscrupulous people profit from it, while taxpayers have to make up the difference.”

“Regarding comments on the July 30 (OMG!) minimum wage vent: Thank you for making my point for me. Commenters suggested that regulations/agencies/instances such as ADA, EPA, NLRB, unemployment insurance, wrongful termination lawsuits and Democrats were to blame for the fact that people don’t get raises/living wages anymore. If I recall correctly, the EPA was working pretty well until it was gutted by Republicans like Bush (43) and Dick Cheney. ADA exists because people in wheelchairs wanted to work but couldn’t get into the buildings (only a true hater would dis this). NLRB and Unemployment Insurance have been around for 75 years and employers managed to cope somehow (i.e. people — especially managers! — got raises during this time). And wrongful termination lawsuits wouldn’t happen if courts hadn’t determined that people had grounds to sue! These regulations and others came about because “employers” were treating workers on a par with the mules that were lowered into coal mines never to see the sun again.”
