“$50.8 million for one player and the Cardinals can’t afford to build their own stadium? I’m not a bit sorry that I voted against them here in Mesa.”

“I was a lunch monitor at my grandkid’s school today, and what did I notice? The same kids that were buying junk food last year are bringing it from home this year.”

-

“Thank goodness for the (voter) ID law. To even pick up my grandchildren from school, I have to show my driver’s license and I’m grateful for that.”

-

“Citizens who haven’t taken the steps to get proper ID can do so. If we lose a few thousand (voters) it won’t hurt anything. (But) if we don’t have voter ID, millions of illegal immigrants will vote and cancel out millions of legal voters.”

-

“The ID law isn’t blocking legal votes. Legal voters are blocking themselves.”

-

“If you can’t prove citizenship, it’s very simple. Then you’re not a citizen.”

-

“As usual, my voting ballot is half (Spanish). If you can’t speak or read English, you have no right voting in this country.”

-

“Well, now that planets don’t have to have gravitational influence, I see the ‘don’t offend anyone or don’t exclude anything because it may affect their self-perception’ attitude extends to the physical sciences. The next planet may be a cosmic hair ball or maybe a big wad of chewing gum.”

-

“Did you see the photo of (Dick) Cheney, (Jon) Kyl and (Matt) Salmon on page A6 of Wednesday’s Trib? At first, I thought it was Curly, Moe and Larry.”

-

“I have been watching the Little League playoffs. My God, those kids are marvelous players. A lot of the pro teams could use some of those pitchers. They look like they’re having such fun, and that’s great.”

-

“Ahwatukee Foothills isn’t the low-rent district. It’s an upscale, affluent community. If your children are playing Little League baseball, step up and write the checks. Get off your knees and stop begging.”

-

“I can’t feel sorry for Dell (Computers). What happened to ‘Made in the USA?’ ”

-

“To the ignorant Venter who doesn’t think the world is overcrowded and that there’s plenty of room: There’s not enough water!”

-

“Global warming is not a climate problem. It is mankind turning our planet into hell on Earth.”

-

“Freedom of speech is an American right. Those who would suppress free expression by the media are the real pinheads.”

-

“California has been smoke-free for years. It’s called clean air for all. California bars and restaurants have not closed down.”

-

“To the senior Venter talking about how great a driver he is in Saturday’s paper. A lot of teenagers that are on the road can probably see a whole lot better than you can, buddy.”
