Even though I am not an Arizona native, I am proud to live in Arizona for its beautiful sunsets, the monsoon season and the burning heat.

First, I love the sunsets. It amazes me that the sky can have such brilliant colors: the bright reds, vibrant oranges and laser yellows. The clouds surrounding it are vibrantly colored, but the clouds farther away are usually a pastel pink or lavender. Sometimes there are both colors in one cloud. Another thing I love is that the sky practically glows.

My absolute favorite part about Arizona is the monsoon season. I love that at the end of a flaming summer we have wet storms. Even though lightning is dangerous, I love watching the bright flashes light up the sky for brief moments. I love loud thunder. I listen to the booming noise, pretending it is the roars from monsters in the Percy Jackson series. Just about everybody I know hates rain, but I can’t get enough of it. What’s more, I like pouring rain.

Finally, I love the burning heat. In Arizona it’s unusual to love the heat, but it gives you an excuse to go to the pool a lot. I also love to wear my black and red basketball shorts, but my mom thinks it’s too boyish. In the heat, there’s no reason not to wear them. I also get to do water balloon fights. I like to throw them at my 18-year-old brother.            I love to live in Arizona, and I hope you do, too. Arizona has many great things, after all it is a hot, beautiful, sometimes stormy state, with amazing sunsets.
