You may be proud to be from your states such as New York or Colorado, but 1 am proud to be from Arizona because of its history, geography and cactus. Here are some examples of why Arizona is a great state.
First, Arizona has great history. It has to do with Indians and the Civil War. Indians, such as the Navajo and Hopi, have left great pottery and villages. A few Civil War battles, such as Picacho Pass (Union vs. the Confederates) were fought in Arizona.
Next, Arizona has awesome geography. The Grand Canyon and part of the Colorado River are in Arizona. Arizona is also on the border of Mexico. Arizona is part of Four Corners along with New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado.
Finally, Arizona has cool cactus. Arizona is the only state in the country that certain cactus grows in. Some cacti are called saguaros, which can live to around 250 years old. Out of about 2,000 types of cactus, Arizona is home to over 30 of them.
Arizona has great history and geography, and not just the Grand Canyon, but other great sites. Arizona is also one of the few places in the world that cactus grows in. These are reasons I am proud to live in Arizona. Arizona is my favorite state.

I loved the way you compared Arizona to other states and threw in a touch of history to have the reader better understand the depth of what Arizona has to offer.
