Like many Americans, I am struggling to keep my head above water in these tough economic times. I commute over an hour a day to work and back and one of my main expenses is gasoline for my vehicle. When I read that the U.S. Senate failed to pass a bill that would expand off-shore drilling, it put a spotlight on how much Congress is divided.
Expanding domestic drilling and eliminating our country's reliance on foreign oil should be a top priority for our government. Yet all Democrats think about is alternative energy, and all Republicans think about is oil. The only thing we can do is write our representative to tell them that we simply cannot continue on the path we are on, and we need a comprehensive energy policy that does not pick favorites, because the reality is: We will need energy from all sources.
