The Mormons can run all the commercials they want and trot out all their propaganda people to give interviews, but that still does not make them Christians. The basic tenets of their organization — the belief that Jesus is not the only son of God, that there are multiple gods, and that any male member of their church can become an equal god — are non-Christian. In fact, for decades the Mormons distanced themselves from Christianity so why the sudden shift in emphasis?

Simple: Money and power.

Not sure what is more disgusting - this letter or the fact that the Tribune chose to publish it.

As anyone who reads the comments knows, I am no fan of religion.

However, this ignorant hate piece is ludicrous, as are its claims...if I wrote a piece claiming African Americans aren't "real" human beings, do you think this rag would publish it? I do not think they would - and for the same reason they should pull this one.

Edward, your letter is nothing more than a bigoted attempt to smear a whole group of people. It is DISGUSTING!

In a letter to Touro Synagogue in 1790, George Washington wrote the following to the Jews of Rhode Island, “...the Government of the United States...gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance...” The First Amendment of the Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”

Let's ALL act like TRUE Americans and call for the end of this type of bigoted and hurtful rhetoric.

And by the way, I am NOT a Mormon, but I am a TRUE American who respects the right of every American to worship, or not worship, as they please.

The whole recall race in the east valley is only the pustule on top of the abscess that is in control in the east valley. When that bursts, dig deeper, and find out how much of this corruption exists in the east valley. The gods who are in charge of many allegedly public organizations do the same thing, all the time, that they did with Cortes in this "race". Try to get ahead in the east valley if you're not a 'saint'.

There are people with boot marks all over their foreheads from the good people who have used them as stepladders to get ahead. Federal organizations for equal opportunity do not want to take on the church of these saints. Talk to people who are not 'saints' about how they are passed up in organizations so that the 'saints' continue to get ahead.

Corruption as bad as Tammany Hall, Chicago, Watergate, etc., exists in the east valley. Equal opportunity does not exist in the east valley.

Pearce and Lewis are just the tip of the iceburg.

Don't be fooled by all the media blitz about the good people who are being highlighted. It's progaganda. The nuts of far right Christianity are not much better, by the way.

And Eddie, here's one for you.

Now there was a day when the sons [plural, not singular] of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. [Job 1:6, King James version]

Rest assured, there's more where this one came from!

    Leon,

You missed one. Although not in Arizona and not a Republican, Harry Reid (Mormon, D-Nevada, Senate Majority Leader) = some balance in the above set of equasions. Explain that if you can?

In Arizona there were 4 1/2 reasons for this multi-multi-million dollar Media Blitz.

    1. The Utah Compact = Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
    2. Mitt Romney (Mormon) = campaining for the Republican Presidential Nomination for the 2nd and last time.
    3. Matt Salmon (Mormon) = campaigning for the Republican US Congressional Nomination.
    4. Jeff Flake (Mormon) = campaigning for the Republican US Senate Nomination.

4 1/2. Jerry Lewis (Mormon) = campaigning for the Recall Election of Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce (Mormon) who went out on a limb as the "Father of SB 1070", the Arizona Law supporting the arrest and deportation of Illegal Aliens from Mexico and other Central American Countries that is ....."not" ....being enforced by the Obama Democrat Administration (Attorney General for the United States, Eric "Fast and Furious" Holder and Secretary of Homeland "In-Security" Janet "Undocumented Immigrants" Napolitano.
