I was impressed when I saw Jeff Flake elbowing his way through the crowd surrounding Gabby Giffords on the House floor. How nice, I thought, as he leaned over to speak to her. But then the microphones picked up his comment: “You’re not going to be running for the Senate, are you?”

Neo-cons name-calling . . . And even in Europe and the Arab world today, "neo-con" or "neoconservative" is often a codeword for Jews who control U.S. foreign policy. The Nazis harped on this theme, too, especially at the end of the war. They viewed the victory of America over Germany as the victory of the Jews who control America.

samkat:
The term Neoconservative has been used before, and its meaning has changed over time. . . .
. . .
In the early 1970s, democratic socialist Michael Harrington used the term in its modern meaning. He characterized neoconservatives as former leftists – whom he derided as "socialists for Nixon" – who had moved significantly to the right. These people tended to remain supporters of social democracy, but distinguished themselves by allying with the Nixon administration over foreign policy, especially by their support for the Vietnam War and opposition to the Soviet Union. They still supported the welfare state, but not necessarily in its contemporary form.
. . .
In January 2009, at the close of President George W. Bush's second term in office, Jonathan Clarke, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, proposed the following as the "main characteristics of neoconservatism"
• "a tendency to see the world in binary good/evil terms
• low tolerance for diplomacy
• readiness to use military force
• emphasis on US unilateral action
• disdain for multilateral organizations
• focus on the Middle East
• an us versus them mentality"
We have a lot of binary thinkers on this cite. Many would rather support US unilateral action than depend upon diplomacy. The focus on the Middle East is especially US vs Them. My point is that Neo-cons do not perscribe to classical conservative thinking. Heck most do not know what conservative thinking is.

Fact: Congressman Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) did welcomed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) back to the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. This was Giffords' first appearance on the House floor since her shooting, who was there to vote on the debt-ceiling deal.
Exit quotation from Jeff Flake: “Just greeted Gabby Giffords on the House floor. ‘Great to be here!’ she said. I couldn’t agree more.” Flake also said, "Everybody - on both sides of the aisle - was just overwhelmed and it was just a great thing to see."
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will retain for her Democratic seat in Congress in 2012. And agreed . . . Flake can only hope that she does not run for the U.S. Senate seat.

What is with the Liberals fixation on name calling of those that don't think exactly like they do, neo-con, racist, bigots, terrorist, hostage takers. Geez I feel I'm back on the play ground in first grade !

Jeff "I'm not Pearce" Flake has little to nothing to brag about. He should make a great bookend to our great rino Senator John McRino.

Rich Lowry: Historically, 30 years ago it meant a former liberal who became a conservative. The cliche was because "they were mugged by reality," but it was because they saw the empirical failures of liberal welfare, state and foreign policies, and they were therefore less ideological than other conservatives and brought much more of a social science background to their argumentation.

Come on Dale, get over your neo-con phobia. Now, with that said, I challenge anyone to tell us what Jeff Flake has done for the time he has served in the House.

I was surprised to hear that Wilford Cardon had been on Jeff Flake's campaign finance committee. Now that Wilford is challenging Jeff, it should be interesting to see what rhetoric flies. Can Wilford throw slings and arrows at Jeff when he backed him financially? Can Jeff somehow distance himself from Wilford on some important issues? Just how tied at the hips they are will be interesting to discover.
Who's running as the Democrat for Kyl's seat? It's not Gabby. She'll be fully occupied running for her own re-election. From what I saw on TV, she still has some difficulty moving extremities on her right side. That should not present much of a problem for her Tucson constituents. There aren't as many Neo-conservatives down there. And those who are there likely did not think Gabby had a "right side" to begin with!
