The Higley Unified School District is fortunate to be in the East Valley, surrounded by municipal leaders who place a high priority on education: Gilbert Mayor John Lewis, Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney, Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny and Mesa Mayor Scott Smith.

With 12 schools in the communities of Gilbert and Queen Creek, Higley is a growing district. Each year, more students arrive, and we want to provide as many opportunities as possible – from academics and tutoring to after-school clubs and athletics. To do this, we rely on the generous contributions given through the Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) Public School Tax Credit.

The tax credit allows us to enrich the lives of students beyond the hours of the class day. Each year, we see the community support of this tax credit grow.

That is why we are so grateful to Gilbert Mayor John Lewis for his proclamation that made December “Tax Credit Awareness Month” for schools in Gilbert.

We ask that local residents consider a tax credit donation to the school of their choice. Each dollar adds to the lives of our students, the future leaders of these great communities.

Dr. Denise Birdwell

Superintendent, Higley Unified School District
