Anti-choice Republicans are trying to shut down Planned Parenthood by eliminating federal funding. Over the years and especially now in this difficult economic time, Planned Parenthood has helped families with family planning and contraception methods. It is estimated that over 700,000 teenage girls are getting pregnant every year and many teens are at risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease. Planned Parenthood provides for urgently needed services to those in need. Planned Parenthood also provides cancer screenings, HIV tests and other basic health care. Preventive care is saving taxpayers dollars. It is as simple as "an ounce of prevention" is worth a" pound of cure."
