Take a look at Egypt. That's our future if we don't come together politically as a populace. We need both a coalition federal and state government, subsequent to the outlawing of lobbying, the ultimate in legalized conflict of interest. This would be just a start, but a good one. Are you willing to compromise? It's what works.

    D.J. Dream on.

Lobying cannot be outlawed. At best we might put lobying and corporate campaign contributions under some sort of free speech control, making the consolidated voice of the chairman of the board no stronger financially that that of his least paid employee. Where the mail room clerk does not get to vote for the board chairman, the board chairman ought not to get to contribute more than the amount of money perscribed to any one candate and to any one political issue.

And your dream of a "coalition federal and state government" may be a nightmare. Egypt had a coalition of regional and central government, One Nation Under one political party with torture and imprisonment For All who oppose it.

No. D.J. Your dream is the perscription for turning US into an Egypt.

    First thank you Dale.

I don't see any any real options but a compromise.

D.J. Diebold’s daily opinion (published, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). “Letters to Editor” submitted by ‘D.J.’ the behavioral counselor.

Dale Whiting’s summary of 'Take a look at Egypt' opinion (and dream) by D.J. is right on target.

    ------------------------------------------------------

Unbelievably "prescription" by D.J. . . . and even the Obama administration is pushing to involve the notorious Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt's new political landscape.

Muslim Brotherhood, the opposition group in Egypt, gave birth to Hamas and al-Qaeda. And it was the Muslim Brotherhood that claimed responsibility for Anwar Sadat's assassination.

Dream on. Reminds me of Jacob's later. If you are afraid then you see demons tearing your life apart but if you have made your peace then the demons are really angles setting you free.

Of course you Noe-cons agree with me. I am a true Christian conservative and these issues have not yet been co-opted by the Neo-con Leadership. But Bohner is working on it. And Pawlenty is not far behind. This week after speaking at CPAC Pawlenty accused the Administration of cutting in half its financial support to an unidentified organization promoting democracy in Egypt!

Think on this a minute! Surely that was not aid given directly to Egypt. So where was that aid going? The UN? The CIA? Israel? And how does a former governor come to know about such aid? If it was clandestine, do we report him to the Attorney General for disclosing secrets? Yes, the Neo-cons are working overtime to fault this Administration for doing a bang up good job this past month in commenting on Egypt.

Accuracy, the Egyptian brand of the Brotherhood largely reformed itself years ago. Get up to date! Don't make the mistake of assuming there is any real unified front in Arab/ Middle East organizations for anything. Today's Egyptian brotherhood is composed of conservative businessmen with religious backgrounds who became offended by Mubarak and his repressive and self-serving crooked brand of politics and bribe taking in Egypt.

The problem with we Westerners is that we do not listen carefully and we choose to oversimplify our understanding of politics which we have yet to really experience. Richard Engel of NBC [who lived in Cairo after graduating from college] is perhaps the best public source of insight. And if you have Direct TV, try out chanel 375, a mix of Deutche Wella, Al Jazerra, Mosaic and documentary programing involving third world and Middle Eastern politics.

Recent top programs include one entitled "Who Speaks for Islam." It would knock the socks off you Neo-cons! And it would become the foundation for your understanding "why they hate us." Where you in their shoes, you would hate us, too! We act in ways which are reasonably perceived as being bullish, self-centered, and disengenuous. In short, in 9-11 we got precisely what we deserved.

What would Jesus have done in response to 9-11? He'd have begun by turning the other cheek and carrying not only the coat but also the cloak also, and going that extra mile.

What did we do? We slapped back harder and in spades! We cannot be a Christian Nation. We are anti-Christ!
