Kudos to former Intel CEO Craig Barrett and others who confirm what many of us have been saying for several years: The draconian cuts to education implemented by Pearce, Adams and Brewer are the major reason why businesses will not relocate to Arizona. Combine that with the climate of hatred perpetuated by these same people and their henchman and it is no wonder Arizona consistently ranks at or near the bottom in all economic categories.
Arizona's future will not be destroyed by illegal aliens, but from within.

Ed,
How right you are. Even First Solar's new manufacturing facility will be highly automated and will require only minimal operators. Wonder where the highly trained technicians needed to man the systems will be coming from, Germany?

Hey yes, good points. Something missing here? Oh, where would you cut to balance the budget? Maybe they should just make one school district each for Tucson, Flagstaff and Prescott and a couple in the Valley and iliminate a bunch of needless spending.

Maybe both of you should take a look at the Medicaid editorial. May not fit your worldview, but sure makes sense to the rest of us......

Ed,
I would agree except I see no evidence that our legislators were listening.
VolReason,
To which Medicaid editorial are you referring ? The one where Paul Ryan suggests that by privatizing Medicare and converting Medicaid into a block grant program he can save the budget? Here is some of what the editorial said:
“Ryan's proposal hurts the poor. It benefits the rich. And according to Ryan himself, it doesn't balance the budget until 2040. That's not a path to prosperity for anybody except the already prosperous. This proposal must be defeated.” Joel Mathis
Concerning Ryans plan “He has nothing to say about Social Security, nothing to say about farm subsidies, and finds nothing to cut in the Pentagon's bureaucracy.” Ben Boychuk

WELL SO MUCH FOR THE ....DEMOCRATS WAVING THE ....."CIVIL DISCOURSE" BANNER FROM THE BARRICADES....THAT LASTED ABOUT 3 WEEKS....LOL.
LET'S SEE, THE "REAL" ARIZONIANS HAVE BEEN CALLED ..."PARANOID DELUSIONALS AND CONSPIRACY NUTS" BY ONE ...COMMIE-FORNIA BASED SCRIPPS HOWARD NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST FROM ...IOWA.
LAST WEEK IT WAS ANOTHER ...COMMIE-FORNIA BASED COLUMNIST THIS TIME FROM ...TEXAS...OF ALL PLACES.....TELLING ARIZONIANS TO....."OPEN THE BORDER"........SO THAT THE REST OF MEXICO CAN INVADE OUR WONDERFUL STATE.
NOW THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ARIZONA ARE DESCRIBED AS FOSTERING A ...."CLIMATE OF HATRED PERPETUATED BY THE SAME THESE SAME PEOPLE AND THEIR HENCHMEN AND IT IS NO WONDER ARIZONA CONSISTENTLY RANKS AT THE BOTTOM IN ALL ECONOMIC CATAGORIES".
WELL IF THAT IS THE CASE...THEN WHY ARE ALL OF THESE GLOBA COMPANIES (INTEL BEING ONE OF THEM... BY THE WAY)....WHO ARE INVESTING ......BILLION$ AND BILLION$....IN OUR WONDERFUL STATE AND HIRING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF WORKERS AT A GOOD SALARY ???
OBVIOUSLY THE BIG SHOTS (WITH THEIR YALE, HARVARD, COLUMBIA AND WHARTON BUSINESS DEGREES UP THE U-KNOW-WHAT)........WHO RUN THESE COMPANIES HAVE A FAR DIFFERENT PERCEPTION OF ARIZONA......THAN THE WRITER. THEY .........LOVE ARIZONA.
I CAN UNDERSTAND A COLUMNIST WHO LIVES IN TEXAS OR IOWA.....BAD MOUTHING OUR STATE. THEY DON'T LIVE HERE, THEY DON'T PAY TAXES HERE.......BUT WHAT I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND IS A US CONGRESSMAN FROM TUCSON CALLING FOR A BOYCOTT OF ARIZONA.......OR AN ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF GOING ON NATIONAL AND GLOBAL TELEVISION ....AND RUNNING DOWN ARIZONA. OUR LOCAL TV CHANNELS, LOCAL NEWSPAPERS ARE GUILTY OF THE SAME..............."BASH ARIZONA - DRAG IT'S NAME AND REPUTATION THROUGH THE DIRT"....WHY ???....BECAUSE ARIZONA DOESN'T WANT TO BECOME ANOTHER SOCIALIST/LIBERAL/FAILED-STATE LIKE ........COMMIE-FORNIA OR NEW YORK.

If the illegals stop dropping anchor babies here with their extended families, maybe the state could afford a higher quality education. Then again, the "victim", "race" card would come into play to discredit any sense of conservitism. If that doesn't work, personal attacks are always helpful. You liberals are so predictible. Here's a clue: Maybe it's time to review the "playbook" for fresh and new concepts.

As a 50 year Arizonan, I've noticed AZ has always ranked 48th-49th dumbest state in the U.S. with Mississippi being 50th state in high school grads in the U.S. The tiresome truth is "garbage in, garbage out;" "dumb parents = dumb kids = low high school graduation rates." It's simple truism...no matter how much $$$ U throw at the AZ "Education Problem," it isn't the teachers or educators per_se...it's the dumb kids you have to educate + their dumb parents. After all, "U CAN'T MAKE A SILK PURSE OUT OF A SOW'S EAR!!!"...LOL!
