We have operated My Sisters’ Place in the East Valley since 1985. In that time, we have received generous support from community, especially during the holidays. We are again asking the community to help make the holiday brighter for the women and children of our shelter.

These women have had to flee their homes due to domestic violence. And while we provide what we can to meet the day-to-day needs of our clients, we rely on the community to help provide for those extra things for the holidays.

We need donations of new, unwrapped non-violent toys, gift cards and nonperishable food items to help make the holidays bright for its residents. We also need baby items and gifts for moms, including bath and spa products, cosmetics, robes and journals or day planners.

Donations may be dropped off at Engenuity Systems, 2165 W. Pecos Road, Suite 1, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 13. For more information, call My Sisters’ Place at (480) 821-1024.

Our shelter was founded in 1985 to answer the need of women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence. We are one of only two confidential domestic violence shelters serving the East Valley and providing a private and comforting environment for survivors’ safety and recovery. We go beyond just providing shelter. We help to empower women and their children through education and self-determined services, helping them work towards an independent and abuse-free life.

In addition, My Sisters’ Place addresses the needs of the littlest victims of domestic violence. Our caring staff helps the children feel as comfortable as they can in their new surroundings while providing support to meet their unique needs. We have dedicated childhood case workers and provide therapeutic children’s programming, including art and pet therapy.

With help from the community, My Sisters’ Place was able to provide more than 8,308 nights of safety for 309 women and children last year alone. We could not provide the services we do without the help of caring people like you.

Thank you for considering our request to help make Christmas possible for those residing in our shelter this holiday season.
