The readers of Mike McClellan’s latest piece on the Opinion page should be asking Mike why he has neglected to include some facts that do not support the re-election of progressive candidates. Mike neglected to inform you that the Dow exceeded 14,000 points in September 2007 after the Democrats took control of the House and Senate and handed control of the financial markets to Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. As a result of the expertise of these two and the uncertainty of Obama’s election, investors pulled back and the market swooned.
If you read Mike’s opinion piece carefully, you will notice that all of the bad things that happened were at the end of 2008 when a man was elected who promised to share the wealth of those who feed our economy with those who want their share of your effort. No wonder investors pulled back. Ask Mike how he explains gasoline prices doubling in less than four years. Ask Mike if he can justify the true rate of unemployment at over 12 percent after less than four years. Ask Mike if he doesn’t honestly believe that jobs shipped overseas are a direct result of the greed of his beloved unions.

I guarantee there are Mormons in the prison population. People are people. I'm really having to question if you are not actually a troll.

The market crashed, as a result of the greed of Wall Street firms, and international banks delving into unethical lending practices. Congress does not control Wall Street--Congress sings to the tune of the Wall Street masters. The Republicans opened the gates to this, by deregulating the banks, and making the SEC nothing but a complcit arm of the bankers. The Democrats did nothing to change this, and still do not. Once in a while, Obama will say something against the Wall Street greed, but that is just window dressing, for his party...he couldn't change any of it, even if he wanted to...Romney is no different.
Some unions contributed to the jobs going overseas, but that is nothing, compared to our government opening up trade, without tariffs, and allowing companies to avoid taxes, by moving out of the country, without one cent of penalty assessed. Talk about the tail wagging the dog!
Gasoline prices are Obama's fault? Really? I haven't noticed any President or Congress getting a handle on that, since OPEC was formed--in 1960!!
Please note Mr. Popham's use of the term "true" unemployment...that is a Fox News buzz word, short for, unemployment plus 4%, or so...don't confuse our viewers with facts, when hyperbole will do (or facts don't support the overall desired effect).

I don't know about this "we" business, but YOU, mrconservative, are a liar.
I've caught you personally on these forums lying.
I think the lie count is up to 14.
The Mormon Church is racist and sexist. I proved this claim with evidence...evidence that you either ignored or had deleted (how brave and noble LOL).
" I'll live forever, once this life is complete. And so will everyone else. The only question is where we'll live."
The idiot just can't resist spewing his superstitious threats.
What a spineless cretin.

downtownresident, I suggest you do your homework about Mitt Romney's church. You might actually LEARN something, instead of spreading falsehoods about the LDS church. I know of no doctrine that we are changing to "help slip him the White House", as you said. We are not liars, nor crooks. We don't lie or steal. It goes against Christ's teachings (after all, to lie and steal are both against the Ten Commandments).
And please don't put quotations around the word church. It is a church; the only true church on earth.
When Christ comes again, probably within the next 50-100 years, I'll be saying, "See, I told you so". It won't matter if I'm still mortal or not; I'll still be able to say it. Death does not stop life. I'll live forever, once this life is complete. And so will everyone else. The only question is where we'll live. That's up to you. It depends on how you live this life.

Lowell,
Truth, ethics, fair play and civility are all dead now, thanks in part to Karl Rove, the traitor of politics and US citizens.
It's OK to lie, make up "facts" distort anything that is said, use any type of dirty trick imaginable (Olivia Cortez comes to mind locally) as long as you win.
Look at Mitt. He's no longer a conservative, he's "just a normal guy", now. How's he do it? He lies to us all. Look at his "church". They're changing doctrine that is a hundred years old, to help slip him into the White House. The whole bunch are just liars and crooks. They make me sick.

What union is causing jobs to go overseas? Teachers? The high tech industry had no union and yet the jobs went overseas.Greed at the top is what is now causing jobs to go overseas. That and lack of patriotism to the country that made them successful.

Lowell,
You make some good point in your letter. Mike does like to use only points that make his candidate look good. For every good point for Obama I'm sure we can find 5 points against him and that can be said of points for and against Romney also.
The big difference is the way these candidates want to govern. Do we continue down the road of big government progressive socialism or do we return to a path of free market capitalism. There are so many other points from each side to justify one way or another.
The title of Mikes past letter was "Consider their record before voting for Obama or Romney". I say OK lets consider their records. Obama, a community organizer, half term senator, no business experience. Romney, successful businessman, successful governor, successful community leader. Obama, no bi-partisan leadership, no meaningful budget reform, no meaningful entitlement reform. Romney, worked in a bi-partisan manner to turn MA budget around, entitlement reforms and healthcare for MA. Obama, Obamacare without any republican input, Trillion dollar deficits each year, 5+ trillion dollar debt in less than 4 years, stagnant economy, foreign policy in disarray, energy policy bankrupt and floundering, environmental policies destroying the coal industry.
Romney believes the individual spirit and responsibility will bring our country back and that the government needs to step back some and let the free market capitalist system work. Obama believes that big government is the driving force in our economy and that government policies will provide, through redistribution, for recovery.
