The measure of an enlightened society is how they care for the less fortunate and the most vulnerable. After all, what is the alternative?
For that answer, look to the Arizona legislature. When the most powerful and fortunate slash unemployment funds that would benefit families AND the local economy, one has to wonder about the cold, harsh agendas of our leaders.
History is replete with narcissistic despots rationalizing abusive behaviors. They deny, rationalize and project, but continue until stopped cold by a waking populace.
Please, let us stop blaming the victim. Call or mail your legislators. Unemployment? You could be next.

Please D.J. stop "...attributing to malice that which can easily be explained by stupidity." The problem we are currently facing is that we don't seem to be able to fix stupid.

D.J..
Rich has a point. One easily could be stupid and lack malace. However I suggest that neither the malace nor stupidy of our elected officials is at work here. It's a strong desire to be re-elected. So the "malace/stupid" tail needs to be pinned on us as the donkey! D.J.'s suggestion that we "Call or mail your legislators" is right on point!

Last year Arizona legislators eliminated a Children’s Health Insurance program that secured jobs and health coverage for 47,000 low-income children.
Last year our Republican legislators warned us that more cuts to education were forthcoming unless a referendum to increase our taxes for three years was passed. Voters approved the sales tax increase.
Our legislators then actually did cut public education funding by millions while they INCREASED the Dept. of Corrections budget by $10 million (apparently to build more prisons).
Now they eliminate federal unemployment insurance compensation.
“Cold and selfish” describe their best qualities.

I feel like a broken record, but how many years of unemployment meets the requirement of being not cold and harsh. 2, 3, 4? And even though the Federal Government can print money and so doesn't need to worrk about adult things like how we look to the world financially or how we would ever pay it all back, shouldn't someone?

"What is the alternative"....the Liberal-Progressive-Democrats ask.
WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE.....I'LL TELL YOU WHAT THE "ALTERNATIVE" IS = GET OFF THE COUCH...TURN OPRAH OFF...TAKE A SHOWER AND SHAVE.....PUT SOME CLEAN AND IRONED CLOTHES ON..........AND GO OUT AND GET A ...........................JOB.

Or go out and start a business, that would probably work better and you don't need 'permission' to do it.
