Gradually, our government strays further down the shameful road of corruption. This is quite evident through President Obama ordering the Justice Department to "stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act."

The president has no legal authority to declare something unconstitutional. That is the role of the Judicial Branch. Yet, the general public does not exercise their right to speak out against the wrongdoings of such political leaders; perhaps from lack of awareness of the roles of the government. If so, we the people must educate ourselves concerning the roles of each branch.

I may be so bold as to suggest actually reading the Constitution, in which all purposes and roles of the government can be found. Being aware of both the roles of government and the definition of a corrupt government, "one that legislates beyond its rightful power," is fundamental before citizens utilize their power to protect the country from digging an ever-expanding crater of corruption.

So, fellow citizens, why does Obama get away with something that goes beyond his rightful power?

Is it not the Constitution that is the supreme law of the land?

Why, then, do we sit idly by as political leaders take advantage of our ignorance?
