Members of churches of many Christian denominations from across the United States will be praying as the nation approaches Election Day, Nov. 6. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) put together and culminated a massive pre-election prayer vigil to go until voters head to the polls election day.

America is in a state of emergency evidenced by the symptoms of widespread moral depravity and economic meltdown. Education, government, and man’s wisdom cannot solve this problem. The SBC vigil began in September with prayers for revival in the lives of individuals, the churches, and the country. Now is the time for all Americans to choose whom and what they will serve.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

More than 1,300 churches have signed up for the prayer campaign. Pray & Act is endorsed by scores of pastors as well as leaders of advocacy groups, including Jim Daly (Focus on the Family) an international Christian communications ministry, Mike Huckabee (former governor of Arkansas) and an ordained Southern Baptist minister, Dr. Richard D. Land (The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission), Penny Nance (Concerned Women for America), Douglas Napier and Alan Sears (Alliance Defense Fund), Tony Perkins (Family Research Council), Samuel Rodriguez (National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference), and Don and Tim Wildmon (American Family Association). Prayers to focus on wisdom and public officials in voting – We must first understand “what” must be done before we can identify “who” can best help do it.

The focus is on public morality issues, including: pornography, abortion, “family-friendly” policy, marriage is between a man and a woman and must be viewed as sacred, religious liberty, impartial justice, and “the barbaric practice of embryo-destructive stem-cell research.”

There is still an opportunity to enter into a period of unprecedented growth and national Blessing — if we will follow the plan God has for us. It reveals the covenant God made with America and the steps necessary to see the Blessings of heaven showered down on our nation.

Seeking God’s guidance, we stand together praying that God will touch America. We’re Christians that affirm and practice Judeo-Christian values rooted in Biblical authority.

We are praying for “God’s people to vote.”

God save America!
