Ted Simmon, the TV Host of KAET’s “Horizon” TV Program asks “What is wrong with Arizona?”

He should be asking “What is wrong with America?”

Just look at what has come about since Barack Obama became the President of these United States; Gays, lesbians and transexuals are “in” the Military. Illegal Aliens who crossed the U.S. Border in the dead of night carrying backpacks stuffed with 40 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, meth, heroin and opium are to be given amnesty and a path to what used to be our greatest treasure, American citizenship.

Obamacare makes American citizens criminals if they don’t join up.

Now, there are news stories about Democrats wanting to legalize marijuana and the Boy Scouts won’t be for innocent “boys.”

Our politicians are pornographers, adulterers, liars and thieves. Sports heroes are acting the same way or taking every illegal pill and/or medical procedure to win and then lying to their fans.

Our generals and admirals are only concerned about their next star or are committing adultery, too. Priests, teachers, coaches, religious leaders abusing our innocent children.

Our food isn’t safe to eat. Our cars aren’t safe to drive. Our clothes, gadgets, shoes are made by “slave” labor in a foreign country.

Our banks and financial institutions are either corrupt, bankrupt or both. Same goes for our corporations and businesses. Our cities spend tax and bond money like drunken sailors. Our educational system has failed to educate america’s future generation.

Folks, we need to find our American values once again.

Leon, why would I care for the consideration of a bigoted troll, whose only claim to my own consideration is a sense of schedenfreude?

    Get professional help, Leon.

    Dear "Bluepoet",

When you get the guts or a couple other pieces of equipment....and put your name on your comment....then I will give it some consideration..........[beam]

Oh, and by the way.....legally, President Obama's "Back-door Amnesty" Program has a little snag to it.

Any (legal or illegally living in the United States) male, 18 - 25 is required to register with the Selective Service before he can get a Driver's License. If a male was in the United States after his 25th Birthday (having lived in the US even one day before his 26th Birthday)....is not eligible for a Driver's License......[wink]

Which values are those "American" values? You go on and on about every perceived negative aspect of our culture, attribute it to some Liberal conspiracy, and then call for a return to some utopian past, where there were no social problems, and the "skies are not cloudy all day".

That past never existed, and many of the moral problems you attribute to the Left are just as rampant on the Right. Some of the so-called moral problems you list, aren't even moral problems, but solutions to the real moral problems--discrimination, bigotry, and hypocrisy, disguised as moral superiority.

What a piece of work you are, Mr. I Have a Name, and it's "Troll"...

Retiree2000: I respect you for your service. You appeared to hold up for this Liberal socialist party we have. Accept my apology. I am a conservative, not a tea partier as many seem to be so concerned about. Anyway, the economy and many other things that were important to most are doomed with this Liberal Free For All administration. Good day.

Ateam1, I don't understand what you're point is. Apparently, you didn't read my post or understand it. I have never been a socialist, just a clear-thinking, moderate Republican who has watched the GOP stray from what made it a great party to one dominated by a small-minded minority. The party needs to change or it will continue to lose elections! There are some good potential candidates for the 2016 election, such as Huntsman from Utah and Christie from New Jersey, whom I would support. I just don't think that the Religious Right or the Tea Party people will allow them the opportunity to run!

FYI, I served my country in the military. In addition, I worked over 35 years in service to my fellow citizens. I'm sure that this won't matter to you, but I have earned all that I receive now that I am retired!!

Leon is a funny dude. He's always remarking about people's names in the forum but yet there is no guarantee that HE isn't using a made up name.

People can give any name they want. We don't have to show a birth certificate to post.

    Unfortunately.

This letter is a perfect example of the extreme bias this paper exudes.

Letters to the editor concerning environmental issues are discarded.

While letters about Leon's preachy values are posted. YUK!

The progressives on this site need some compassion. Being a former life-long democrat, progressive(liberal), promoting the "tolerance" and "understanding" required to empower those of alternative lifestyles and beliefs---I'm here to say to those former comrades----wake-up and smell the coffee. Nooo-----I'm not a fan of Rove, McCain, or even Rubio. They have all abandoned the core principles that I hold so dear to my heart. The GOP is now towing the line of libs and their ilk. The loyalties of Boener, Mitchell, yes, even our own Jeff Flake is a travesty. Why some GOP members jumped ship and became RINO'S is just plain wrong. The POTUS now feels empowered to further "fundamentally transform" AMERICA. GOD HELP US! Long live the Tea Party!

Rich, just curious as to what your point is regarding your last comment. Striving to be middle class is beyond the reach of many, most especially in Arizona. Perhaps I misunderstand your point.

    "What's wrong with Arizona?"
    or America?

We've forgotten who we are, 'temporarily embarrassed millionaires' and started striving to be middle class. It's not morality we lack, it's self image.

Anyone who claims we've lost our way from our past has some pretty serious blinders on. There are countless reasons why our morals are better today than yesterday, but I'll list only one word:

    SEGREGATION.

To summarize, I believe that many on the "Right" are all for changing the immigration system, as long as we do something to protect the border. What good would creating a more streamlined process if you can walk through the back door. Just checking, but how much time has been spent by the Democrates to streamline the legal immigration process? Right. You are correct, people have the right to be gay. Does the Boy Scouts- a private organization have the ability to select their membership and who can be their leaders? Right. Do we think that the US works better with more Government or less? Better, do you trust yourself more with a dollar or the Government? Right. Yes, Leon is definitly off his Rocker- not......

Hate to point this out, Leon, but the proper spelling of the word is "where" not were!

Actually more than half of the voters trusted Obama (51.1%), as opposed to Romney, or at least they feared Romney and the "my way or the highway" Republicans who are married to the Religious Right and the "anti-tax for anything" Tea Party. As a registered Republican for over 40 years, I lament that in today's world even Barry Goldwater would be considered a liberal! The Republicans will continue to lose a majority of elections as long as they follow the path that alienates clear-thinking, moderates in the party.

Sorry "rhmnic" (were do these Libs get there anonymous nick-names from....[wink])

but President Obama only convinced 51.1% of the Voters.

Governor Romney convince 47.2% of the American Voters that he should be President.

1/2 of the American Voters don't trust Barack Hussein Obama.....1/2.

I would ask what exactly you are doing to effect a change in America's values other than post letters on EVT. Perhaps the values of Americans are not changing at all but the manifestation of those values such as tolerance for those whose race, beliefs, gender, or sexual orientation may differ from one's own is now being realized. If Americans' values are reflected in election results, then it must be the case that Americans reject the policies of politicians with whom they disagree on those fundamental values. That President Obama has now won two presidential contests suggests that he is not out of touch with mainstream Americans' values but reflects them.

california leon... you layed an egg with your letter. Now you sit on it like a mother troll trying to defend it from those who find it as rediculous as you are. When it hatches it will be another troll. Most amusing. Go back to your delusionary nostalgia.

I can always tell when I made some valid points because all the anonymous Liberals start with the name calling and character assassinations.

Remember when the Democrats, Liberals and Socialists were all calling for "civil discourse"....from President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid (our very own Gang of Three)....on down......lol.

Poor little leon. As he ages, he realizes his ideal world in which he lives under the bridge waiting to jump out and scare those terrible communist, immigrant, drug snorting tattooed kids, is not as he imagined it. Sorry leon, the world hasn’t changed a bit, there’s just better ways to communicate how messed up it is. Stay under your bridge. When you come out, that lefty Billy Goat Gruff, will kick your tail with reality.

Leon, the fact that manufacturers recall cars is a sign of how important safety is.
Vehicles are recalled if even a small chance of a problem is detected.

Your other characterizations are all equally misguided. After about the third time I read anything you had written, I had decided that you must be a troll, because nobody can really believe such nonsense.

    Leon,

What's wrong with allowing any American, no matter what his/her lifestyle choice is, to serve in the military? Why can't a young male enjoy the learning experience of Boy Scouting just because he's gay? Keep in mind that it's not the gay scout leader that we have to worry about around our sons. Pedophiles are most often heterosexual. They are the ones who prey on young boys and girls. The illegals who transport drugs across the border are a minute number of those who actually seek employment and an opportunity to send money back home to their families. I agree that they should seek work visas and come across legally, however, maybe we need to make it easier for them to gain access to legal means of coming to America. As far as marijuana is concerned, think of the billions of dollars wasted to enforce laws over the last half century. Perhaps now is the time to legalize pot and tax it?

As far as the politicians, sports heroes, generals & admirals and banks. Those problems have existed since this country was formed. Everyone is responsible for developing their own moral compass. What makes this country great is that no one has the right to force his/her morals and/or beliefs on anyone else. That's why Prohibition failed and that's why the War on Drugs has failed.

By the way, if you want a car that works buy a Honda!

But, Barack Hussein Obama’s “CHANGE” campaign was just that.

Obama’s goal all along never was NOT, and still is NOT, to “find our American values.”

Leon you are the very reason for why the Republican party is doing the following. GOP fund launched: Karl Rove's political action committee this week launched a new group to protect Republican senators from primary challenges by far-right and TEA PARTY conservatives. The Conservative Victory Project has been created by American Crossroads, the largest Republican Super PAC, in order to deter conservative challengers deemed to extremist to win Senate seats. The TEA PARTY EXPRESS denounced Rove and his allies, telling supporters, "we cannot allow them to pick winners and losers by funding elections with money!"

Leon, all these situations existed prior to Barack Obama's presidency. And, Ted Simons is exactly right to ask "What is wrong with Arizona."

    The answer is: "PLENTY."
