Let’s face it, the nation’s founders didn’t create the Second Amendment to allow people to kill defenseless, unarmed school children.

The Second Amendment was created to allow people to kill well-armed government tyrants.

In 1776, that meant allowing the people to have swords, flintlock rifles and canons.

In 2013, it means allowing the people to have machine guns, rocket launchers, anti-tank guns and all the other weapons the well-armed government tyrants have.

A lot of people will point out that letting people have guns will allow nut jobs to murder a few innocent children like in the recent Connecticut school shooting.

Those people are 100 percent correct.

Those same people seem to forget that not allowing people to have guns has allowed government nut jobs and tyrants like Hitler, Stalin, Mao and others to murder millions of innocent civilians.

    “Nation’s leaders created 2nd amendment for 1776, not 2013”

    ----------------------------------------------------------

But in 2008 and 2010 the U.S. Supreme Court made influential rulings interpreting – “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the amendment pretexts an individual right unconnected with membership in a militia. It also ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governmental authority to the same extent that it limits federal authority.

Even President Obama said: “Let me be absolutely clear. Like most Americans, I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms.”

20+ kids were killed in Sandy Hook- very sad. 500+ kids and adults have been killed in the Executive Order Presidents adopted home town of Chicago- also very sad. Chicago and Illinois have the heaviest limits on firearms. Most of the 500 in Chicago didn't have anything to do with mental illness and everything to do with hopelessness. Which is the bigger problem. If a woman who knew her son had major mental problems didn't keep elaborate firearms in her house, most likely we wouldn't be hearing the groundswell for the 500+ in Chicago. This is very sad too.

Okay Bingo6... you have the floor. Now tell us what you think the problem is and how to solve it. At least the "idiots" put something on the table instead of just calling names and opting out.

What a bunch of totalitarian idiots. I can't imagine why anyone would want to live in your Mad Max utopia.

Every schoolyard shooting in America-- every mass murder and/or murder/suicide, not to mention the enormous number of just suicides -- have all shared the foundational common denominator of SSRI drugs that our government and Big Pharma have conspired to poison our children with from grades K-12 or earlier. Media never has reported this, which speaks volumes about what the "news at eleven" does and does not include, and why. Guns are NOT the problem. Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors ARE the problem. We have a wealth of information at our fingertips -- literally- and we are all just few clicks on the World Wide Web away from discovering exactly what is causing these horrific slaughters of kids by kids. This knee jerk reaction blaming guns and reaching this oblivious and totally quite erroneous conclusion that we should give up our second amendment right to self protection, like that's going to stop violence that is caused by the real drug pushers in America's school yards, is sheer insanity. Don't take my word for it. Research it yourselves -- and then let's save the children and ourselves from becoming the helpless and unarmed sitting ducks we are all so dangerously close to becoming.
Guns for citizens are outlawed in Mexico, yet some of the citizens there are daily gunning down those who are unarmed there. Google Juarez and you will have an idea of what will be happening in America if we don't all wake up immediately and choose to use our God given brains.

And the mentally ill are those who think that further saturation of society with unrestricted weapons will somehow make us all safer. The litmus test is who is most rational. Limiting magazine size and extensive background checks aren’t all that unreasonable. Slippery slope arguments are.

We are seeing the results of the ACLU's fight to get the mentality ill their rights to be free and unchecked.

Eventually they will find a way to disarm enough of you that your life won't be worth living. Already they take your money to pay for those who don't contribute, their power and their army. I never felt the need to be armed. I'm beginning to feel that if my grandchildren are to half a chance, it's time to visit a gun shop. I really hate that, but my President is making it imperative.

I believe 100% in the 2nd amendment with common sense, but when I read one post above, we should confiscate every gun, knife, baseball bat, ect, and put some in padded cells.

Bluepoet: some of those " militia " type groups and survivalists have weapons stockpiles that would be the envy of some 3rd world countries.

I wouldn't bet that they don't have grenade launchers and machine guns and flame throwers and all kinds of goodies stashed in the woods.

There are more weapons loose in the U.S.A than there are people.

But, as so many have said ( myself included ) --- guns don't kill anyone by themselves ( other than the rare accident where a gunf falls and goes off ).

PEOPLE use the weapon to do evil because they are crazy and our stupid laws don't allow for them to be kept away from society.

...I said Representative Democracy...strike that, and change it to Oligarchy...the real power doesn't lie in weaponry--it's still the money, and information folks!

Where did I say, or even indicate that I don't think it can happen here? I was merely pointing out the illogical fallacy that an armed citizenry means a well-behaved government.

If we indeed had a situation where a dictator had the military backing here, to overthrow our Representative Democracy, I really doubt that the citizenry could do more than make it difficult for him to accomplish the goal--and, I'd be more than willing to help in that...however, let's not kid ourselves that it would be a successful resistance, ok?

The plain truth of the matter is that Obama isn't enacting draconian gun laws, (unless that's any gun law?). And, people, including children, are going to continue to die in these senseless scenarios, until we, as a nation, get a grip on our collective animal instincts, and do something about it!

More guns---less guns...it doesn't matter, people...our children are being killed, and we are debating the same old BS!

Bluepoet: thinking that it won't happen here is the best way to insure that IT DOES HAPPEN HERE.

The world has been watching people in various countries fighting for their freedom against their dictators over the last few months.

Some of them were elected, others overthrew the government to become the dictator.

But when the dictators get set up and the military goes along with them ... the people are left facing a well armed military force with advanced weapons and then the people have a problem if they don't have access to equal weapons.

We all hope it won't happen here --- but history says it will --- sooner or later.

So, what's your point, Mike? That guns are a necessary evil? That it's just a matter of who gets to do the killing, and on what scale?

And, one thing you seem to forget is that, even though we have a well-armed citizenry, our Government kills lots and lots of innocent civilians, too. Just not here...
