Oil prices have risen 133 percent since Obama took office; gas prices have risen 70.4 percent. Yet Obama, Interior Secretary Salazar and Energy Secretary Chu continue to prevent the U.S. from drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico and other previously approved sources of oil, especially Alaska.
Responding to political pressure and rising frustration from consumers, Salazar recently issued ONE permit to drill off the coast of Louisiana. This is not going to solve our oil crisis and Obama knows it.
Obama and his eco-activist supporters must end their deliberate "starve America first" energy policy. We must be able to wean ourselves from foreign oil and exploit domestic sources off shore and on federal lands, which the administration has blocked as well. Obama is forcing society to live with less. Americans are using too much of everything -- energy, food, air, water. The U.S. must defer to those of the world who he thinks haven't enjoyed their "fair share." This is global "social justice."
By allowing oil prices to rise, it enables his green agenda perfectly. High oil prices make all U.S. goods more expensive from clothing, food, household products, transportation, etc. High prices at the pump will make Americans clamor for electric cars. He and his environmentalists are executing their plan superbly.
