Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, you feel the effects of the prices at the pump, and our reliance on gasoline has only increased. So why is energy taking a backseat role in this election? In the Presidential debate, the topic of energy was barely discussed!
There needs to be an all of the above solution towards our energy policy. Start by approving the Keystone XL Pipeline.
This alone will create thousands of jobs and help diminish our dependence on foreign oil. Likewise, we should look at other forms of alternative energy that can help us in the long run such as solar and gas.
I believe it’s time we demand our candidates take a harder look at energy.

Eric, The reason gas prices are not being discussed is that, any thinking person, Democrat or Republican (yes, there are some of both parties still capable of it), knows that gasoline prices are not controlled by our President, whomever it may be...
Since 1960, when OPEC was formed, the price of oil/gas has been going up...
The only energy policy worthy of discussion is alternative energy. As with any new technology, it will be more expensive, until it's made at a larger scale. It's the future, and the only thing to really talk about is how to implement it--financially, culturally, and politically. I personally like the idea of a broad approach, using oil company profits and subsidies...

" If "Climate change" were a real issue, scientist would debate it and evidence would be reviewed."
Um, it is, and they do.

"Not someone screaming that if you don't believe it your not a real..."
That's what religious people (and people making claims with no evidence) do.
Funny how the same people calling those who have reviewed the evidence "crazies" are, more often than not, the same people who believe a magical sky fairy farted the universe into existence.
Crazies and hypocrites.

Climate change is real. It gets hotter and get colder in cycles. You may recall the ice age and then the earth warmed up again. I don't think there was an SUV in sight. If "Climate change" were a real issue, scientist would debate it and evidence would be reviewed. Not someone screaming that if you don't believe it your not a real scientist and the like. I would love to hear some of the global warming crazies (oops "scientists") debate someone like say the founder of the weather channel or a real scientist who believes differently. I will wait.

chuckes, if global warming has stopped --- why are the polar ice caps disappearing faster than predicted?
Vast areas of ice are GONE.
Virtually overnight on a historical scale.
Not having that ice reflecting solar energy back into space is going to result in a warming of the polar oceans and the result of that is totally unpredictable but not likely to be something good.
Why have we been setting records all across the U.S. for high temperatures?
Virtually the entire country suffered record drought this year.
The Mississippi and Missouri rivers were almost dry. River shipping had big big problems.
Conditions in various places around the world are changing, not always for the worse either. Some places may well get nicer weather for awhile. But, overall, the global temperature has been increasing. Ice is melting. Oceans are rising.
CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL.

Not alot of comments addressing the original letter. Just more Romney bashing.
What is the Obama Energy Policy? Higher energy prices and taxpayer funded pipe dreams called Green Energy Companies run by DNC donors. And oh, yeah. Destroying the Coal Industry and more American jobs.
"Global Warming?" Seems mother nature missed the memo:

Dale,
"The pipeline project is be responsibly addressed"????? Since when? The only energy decisions by this administration are the on going borrowing and deficit spending to fund solar and wind projects, all other energy projects are on hold until after the election so that Obama can pacify his base of environmental wackos to get their votes.

Eric,
Are you new to this cite? Both "truth" and "Willie" are correct. Your underlying assumptions are wrong, almost all wrong. Producing more crude oil in Canada from tar sands produces more than crude oil. It's the most polluting process known to the industry. The refined products do go overseas and do help lower overall gasoline prices world wide. Increasing supply does reduce price, but also increases demand. What is left behind? Profits go to the Saudi investors. The pollution remains behind on the Gulf Coast.
What is left to complete the pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast? Figuring out how to traverse the irreplaceable aquifer the portion of the pipeline not yet completed must cross. And the investors have committed to a re-design approved by the EPA. The Obama Administration remains committed to approving that redesigned pipeline.
So Eric, shut up and listen. The pipeline project is being responsibly addressed. Or are you being paid by the Koch Brothers?

What is wrong with Republicans, one more time Keystone Pipe line goes to Auther Refinery in Texas owned by Saudis Arabia then to a port for export to Asia. No wonder Romney can change direction in his political policies every time he changes his pants Republicans can't remember what Romney said the day before.

chatty ... Romney won't reveal any of his plans until after he's elected.
Whenever Romney / Ryan are confronted and asked for DETAILS they duck and run and change the subject.
But, I can tell you Romney's tax plan.
The Republican legislature in Kansas rammed through tax cuts ( state tax ) for the rich of up to $20,000 / year and INCREASED taxes on everyone else.
They inadvertently revealed what Romney wants to do nationwide.

Eric,
The reason energy isn't a hot topic for this election is because the liberal biased media doesn't want to do stories that may make Obama's energy policy look bad. Lost billions of taxpayers money to bankrupt politically connected companies doesn't look good for this administration. Billions more going for new solar companies that are being built with foreign parts. Billions more dollars borrowed and added to the debt. Those are the reasons that the liberal media isn't making energy a part of this election.
The media would rather write the Obama narrative of "throwing Grandma off the cliff" instead of Romney's plan for economy recovery, entitlement reform, welfare reform or tax reform and more jobs.

Arizona Willie has it right!
Most of the people who will vote can afford $4.00/gallon gas. When big oil makes billions of dollars every month, they can afford to buy the very best politicians and lobbyists.
It's the $20,000.00/day hospital bills and the $500.00-$1,000.00/month we have to spend on prescription drugs that scare me. Same with hospitals, to some extent, and drug makers for sure.
I cringe to think what will happen if Mitt, the Magnificent, gets elected. Anybody who thinks this country will be better off with him at the helm is sadly misinformed, or Mormon. I wonder if Mitt even knows where the gas filler is on his many luxury cars.
I wonder if his wife has ever fed their million dollar horse? There is NO connection to reality anywhere in the Romney clan.[sad]

Petroleum based energy is NOT a problem for the U.S.A.
We have so much domestic oil that we EXPORT billions of gallons of petroleum products every year.
The oil companies are notorious for LYING to the American people.
The said the Alaska pipeline would lower gasoline prices, even though they KNEW they were going to export 98% of the oil to Japan.
They claim this new pipeline they want to run down to Texas will lower gas prices at the pump -- but the new pipeline will terminate in a HUMONGOUS oil terminal that is being built in the Gulf for the express purpose of selling that oil on the world market.
We import some oil and the oil companies constantly raise prices based on the price of oil on the world market, but we could easily stop importing all oil and use only current domestic sources without drilling another well for a long long time.
If you want to see the price of gasoline actually come down ... pass laws making EXPORTING of petroleum products illegal.
The oil companies would be choking on the excess oil and would be begging us to buy gas at 29 cents a gallon like in the 60's.
