Don’t miss the chance to get your kids involved in Little League baseball or softball.

Many Mesa schools have chosen to no longer send home flyers with their students announcing sign-up dates for Little League.

Signups begin Valley-wide in January. Families will need to be more proactive in getting their young athletes signed up to play. To find out sign-up locations, visit the District 7 website at www.azd7.com. Registration closes in less then four weeks!

Yes Little League is a great opportunity for kids to learn teamwork and join in regular activity. I am pretty sure if Schools wanted to ensure kids were aware of Little league they could easily put it on their marquee or add it into the information that already gets sent home to parents. I know that some here and in the education mafia think that every action requires funding, but not so here. Hey, may defeat the need for local school districts to hire chefs to encourage kids to eat carrots in their free lunch too. I mean if they are actually out playing ball and not sitting behind a cellphone texting or videogame, they may actually be healthy. Just sayin. In the old days, they called that common sense.

Little League was perhaps the most fun I ever had, in school. I wonder why some of the schools don't choose to send flyers out? Could it be that they would have to hold a bake sale, to get the money to buy the paper to print the flyers on?

Or, maybe they could use the funds allocated to the band to invest in--wait, what funds? Music and arts are not needed, in a society that doesn't even value education, now does it?

Anyway, thanks for the "heads up", Mr. Yarbrough. If I had kids, they'd be signing up!!

Right wing-nut Froot Loop: It is called equal opportunity. Go read your AARP bulletin and find your Ex-Lax, and get your political nose and agenda out of Little League, Leon. You're obviously worried about your gender identity to go off on your rants in your short pants.

THANKS Mark! Little League is great for kids. My two sons, now 30 and 34, were on Little League baseball teams in upstate NY for many years and it was a great experience for them. They learned how to be team players and the importance of fairness and respect for your opponent. My younger son even went on to became a Little League umpire when he was in high school. You are doing a great service for the children of Mesa and I salute you.
