First, Sen. John McCain is for immigration reform, then when it’s politically expedient, he’s against it. With a challenge from his right behind him, he wiggles, squirms and acerbically claims to constituents that he’s for reform once again.
If the residents of Arizona are bewildered by Sen. McCain’s behavior, join the crowd. Unfortunately it’s not just immigration reform that results in collective confusion over his weekly public pronouncements. This is becoming an all too common trait from this once admired political figure.

McCain was never "against" amnesty. He simply added a pre-condition of a secure border, after listening to his constituents.
If you can find a sound-byte of McCain saying we need to "deport them all", I'd love to see it.

McCain is fully caught up in the political brokering, to the extent that he will say or do just about anything, to make a deal. He joins a very long list of colleagues who go to Washington, full of ideals, and then stay for the power and prestige.
I think he's probably getting close to becoming the next Joe Lieberman, playing the pivotal role, in some major legislation, as an "independent"...

Heroes don’t exploit their heroism for personal gain. In fact they usually play it down. Having been a prisoner of war is all we ever hear about McCain. He did serve and even volunteered for combat, was wounded, tortured and refused early release by his captors. Laudable behavior that helped him get his job. There are few stories of impressive legislation, a noble cause (although he’s quick to get on a popular bandwagon) or caring about doing the job he’s overpaid to do. It’s been decades since we sent him to congress. It’s about time he was evaluated on the job he’s doing now.

I am no fan of John McCain from a conservative stance, but have utter respect for the veteran. I am with DTR on the "idiots" who want to let this country slide into a recession because they found new ways to extract money. Would our President and Senate fall under this banner? They have collectively been in control of our Government for the last 4 years-no? Or is it the Tea Party or President Bush's fault still?
