At the end of an evening meal, the husband said to his wife: “Let’s watch some TV.” She said: “Ok. — What’s your preference?” And the conversation proceeded like this. How about a movie? Ok — there’s Alien. No. There’s Aliens. No.

How about Predator? No. Predator II? No. Terminator? No. Terminators? Nooo. Ooooh, there re-running Rambo First Blood — part 1. No Way... Rambo First Blood — part II? Forget it. Rambo First Blood — All gone? Huh — one can only hope.

How about watching that singing show? You mean the one that has poorly dressed, semi-talented folks judging the singing of future poorly dressed, semi-talented folks? Yeah, — that one. Pass.

What about those ‘Deliverence”-type hillbilly shows like Swamp Wars? NO. Gator Boys? NOO. Moonshiners? NOOO! Noodling? NO — unless the fish swallows him.

How about a Texas show — like Rattlesnake Republic? No. Hoggers? Hell No. Lady Hoggers? OMG! You’ve got to be kidding..

Perhaps, Real Housewives of Atlanta? No. Beverly Hills? No. Las Vegas? No. Newark? No — Really?

How about Honey Boo Boo? Aaaiiieeee!

There’s a new show called: “Double ‘D’ Divas” about fat folks trying on bras — interested? How fat are they? Never mind dear. Here, read this book called “War and Peace.” A hundred dollars per month and five hundred channels to choose from and the best selection is “OFF.”

Wait, wait, wait, You forgot the lawyer shows where they mess around with everyone else in the firm and then don't follow the law. Or the doctor shows, where the doctors are sicker than the patients. Or how about the medical examiners that do all the police work. And then there are the police shows where they break every law on the books to get the bad guy. The only good thing to watch on TV are old black and white war movies, live sports and maybe an occasional National Geographic.

You're right about the unreal "reality" shows and the cop shows and the forensic shows that choose to do examinations just as I'm about to eat something. There are alternatives to "pop" TV, however, on Discovery, History and similar. If you have internet and a "smart" device such as the newer TVs, DVD players or TiVo you have access to a lot of choices. Youtube has a huge mix of both the good and bad but if you know what you want you can usually find it. TED is also a great source of fresh and informed talks and performances by knowledgeable and talented people.

Don't forget the "Politically Correct" TV shows that always portray the "White" cop or investigator as someone with an I.Q. of 64 who needs a Black or female supervisor to tell him what to do. And where are the Hispanic and Oriental actors and actresses there are none. On TV programs or commercials. The Newspapers are screaming that Hispanics will outnumber Whites in 6months yet current TV programs and commercials, Newspaper ads only show Whites and Blacks. There are very, very few "all White" TV commercials but many, many "all Black" TV Commercials.

Oh, I almost forgot a TV show that I see every now and then when I am channel-surfing. Something called "Wedding Dresses, Bigger Sizes". It shows young women who are trying to squeeze into these fancy wedding dresses with no sleeves that must have rebar sown into the undercarriage to push everything, and I do mean everything up to the top.
Don't these brides realize that this ceremony will be in a Church or Synagogue, Houses of God, Places of Worship ??? What must the priest, the rabbi or the reverend think when he sees the bride dressed in white, jiggelling her way down the aisle and some are even....tattooed....lol.

leon... you innate prejudice comes through as always, along with you womens clothing fetish. I'm sure you're also an avid fan of "Toddlers and Tiaras." Do you watch it with the shades drawn and the pause button on your remote handy? Sicko Troll! Maybe you and your alter ego Ateam1 what it together.

I watched ‘The Impossible’ movie the other day. I think it is worthwhile. I recommend it.

And the biggest issue here is that we are paying $30, $40 even $50 or more a month for TV connection (cable or satellite) for what? 13-14 minutes of "shows" and 16-17 minutes of advertising? Advertisers pay the stations to run their ads, no? Then why is the public charged to access the stations? In the old days, when you could get reception with a $5 set of rabbit ear antenna, it was easier to put up with the 2 or 3 commercial interruptions in the show you were watching. Cable (and later, satellite) were offered as paid alternatives around "commercial" television.

Boy, has that gotten out of hand.

In one way, it's gone full circle...one can buy a set of "rabbit ears" for the digital signal. Works about like the old ones, except the picture is better (no need to have your child hold up the rabbit ears, with tinfoil, just so)...of course, the number of channels is limited, but the quality is about the same.

Another alternative is "internet tvs", roku, or paying apps that will play movies or tv shows, from the past, both distant and recent. This saves money, and puts the power back in the hands of the viewer--still, it takes some patience to find good programming, at times.

aka.... a typo? that's all ya' got? you can do better than that! and there's no room in the closet 'til you come out with your tutu and tiara, or maybe a honey boo boo get up. now you're comparing equipment? better go back to those school grounds you hang out by and get a couple tats for street cred.
