I saw the title “Right wing is destroying the economy” and I did not even need to look at the author. I knew it was my good left-wing friend Rod Livdahl. Mr. Livdahl and other Liberals, please consider the following: You cite the austerity programs in Europe as ruining their economy, ignoring the fact that liberal spending policies in these quasi-socialistic countries drove the debt up so high that they were forced to curtail spending. As Maggie Thatcher once said, “eventually Socialists run out of other peoples’ money.”

As for “severe sequestration cuts”: it was not really a cut at all. It was simply a reduction in spending increases. According to the Congressional Budget Office, after the spending increases of the sequester, the budget will be 1 percent smaller than it would have been without the sequester, but discretionary spending would still be 7 percent higher than when Obama took office. Also, the original idea of sequester was actually promoted by the White House.

Liberals had complete control of the executive and legislative branches of the Federal government in 2009 and 2010. During that time, the unemployment rate which was 7.8 percent when Obama took office went to 9 percent in the next three months and never went below 9 percent until October of 2011. So much for brilliant liberal policies having a positive effect on the economy. Since sequestration unemployment has gone down to 7.6 percent. This is still a terrible number. It will take conservatism to fix this.

Liberals, are you listening?
