Is it me, or have things finally calmed down out there? The bomb-throwing seemingly has abated. Having thrown one or two myself, a bit of regret remains.
Knowing that intense attitudes are cyclical, it didn’t help before the last election. So many nerves were raw. Liberal, moderate or conservative, we all have families to feed, educate and protect.
We’re all Americans with a proud heritage overall. The three types of communication: assertive, aggressive and passive-aggressive are choices each and every time speak. Let us use restraint and choose wisely this time around.

We are to assume that you're an expert on such issues???? You're qualifications are???

k33j88,
You may make whatever "assumptions" you wish. D.J. qualifications are simple. He is not a Neo-con.

Dale,
Are the general qualifications of a neo-conservative somehow lower or below standard as though liberals and progressives are more qualified to make public statements? Your statement make you appear foolish!

No way . . . Dale Whiting is still throwing his derogatory "Neo-con" name calling.

OK, guys,
I have submitted a commentary which explains what is means to be a true conservative. In the name of partisian politics and following the lead of Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich, the principles of true conservatism have been trampled on by today's neo-conservatives. If you think being neo-conservative is a good thing, its time for you to speak your peace in a 550 word commentary. If you believe that there is something noble about being a neo-conservative, explain yourselves. But as far as I can conclude from your expressed opinions, you do not have consistent principles guiding you, just Karl Rove platitudes which you have memorized. And since I reject Neo-conservativism as did Bill Buckley, you assume I must be liberal. But I am not!

k33j88, Leon Ceniceros & Accuracy , do you feel you have to submit a 550 word commentary to explain to the Neo-Con" king just what it means to maintain your beliefs?
Personally, I feel my posts display my beliefs on the news stories and letters posted here at EVT. I'm not trying to enamor myself to the paper's staff in hopes of obtaining a position with the paper's commentary contributors.

You are right Slabside.
Let’s get one thing straight . . . William F. Buckley Jr., and a clique of associates, appointed themselves the new conservative leaders in the early 1950s — pompously calling themselves “responsible conservatives”, and continued to the year 2000 . . . And not by Neo-con name calling.
We do not assume Buckley was not in any way a liberal. But! Neo-con is just a pejorative used primarily by Liberal Democrats. While, Buckley a journalist and commentator, believed American politics was dominated by liberal New Deal Democrats and not by conservatives by any name.
Now Dale Whiting uses the disparaging “Neo-con” expressive, just like “neo-Nazi” name calling by Liberals, as a low opinion of all others.

Everyone settle down. Don't you all get tired of being so angry all the time? Diebold's letter makes a good point, regardless of his political affiliation.

I do not think Neo-con name calling is a good thing. No commentary needed.
Neo-con is just a pejorative used primarily by Liberal Democrats. Buckley a journalist and commentator, believed American politics was dominated by liberal New Deal Democrats.
Just like liberals use “neo-Nazi”, Dale Whiting is uses the disparaging “Neo-con” as his low opinion of Republicans.
