Fact: January 2008 = The start of the E-verify Law, and the I.C.E. Deportation/Incarceration Programs.
Fact: January 2008 + The start of "The Worst Recession in U.S. History."
Fact: This is No Co incidence!
The tens of thousands of Immigrant dwellings vacated nearly overnight triggered/ caused the "Foreclosure Crisis" in America.
These vacated dwellings made entire States like Arizona, California, Florida, ect. become overbuilt, completely halting all private sector Construction/Growth, also leaving these States with massive excesses of Total Government Services, and matching Budget Deficits.
Fact: The Hard Labor Immigrants gladly did for America was the Foundation of our once Strong Economy, and this Hard Labor supported all other American jobs.
A very wise 1840's French Historian said: "America is great because it is good, when it ceases to be good, it ceases to be great."
Mr. Richardson, these Immigrants did not leave because of the "Economic Downturn", however the Deportation of Good Parents even away from their legal Citizen Children, has changed America, and Caused this "Economic Downturn".
This is our I.C.E.'d Economy, and we deserve it!

I guess EARNING YOUR RIGHTS means nothing anymore. Welcome to the entitlement era. I've IGNORED your Federal laws and am an INVADING FOREIGN NATIONAL, STOLEN the identity of a CITIZEN OF THE USA, but that's not enough for me. I demand amnesty for my crimes, and citizenship for me and my children.
I hope the majority of US Citizens don't start thinking that way. Are we hurting because ILLEGAL ALIENS have left? I'm sure that's part of the reason. However, in the long run, we'll become stronger, unless we keep IGNORING what's been going on for several decades. Want more labor? Fine, bring it in LEGALLY. Problem is many come in LEGALLY, then stay ILLEGALLY, and STEAL RESOURCES meant for US CITIZENS.
@ Bill Richardson: I've noticed that you've brought up things about Pearce, specifically the Olivia Cortes "gambit". Interesting on how you FORGOT TO MENTION a JUDGE already stated what occurred IS NOT ILLEGAL. Was it a dirty trick? I think so, but LEGAL.
What I'd like to know is since you are digging up so much "dirt", why is there NO QUESTION about funding given for Jerry Lewis's bid for office? Isn't it REQUIRED to give such information regarding elections? Further, there was an article in the "Politics" section (titled: Bennett wants probe of campaign spending by groups who claim secrecy) that should also have a link in the "Immigration" section about how official-looking postcards (but they are CLEVER FAKES) are being sent out ILLEGALLY advising people not to vote for Cortes. I'd provide a link, but for some reason EVT then blocks your comment.
I wonder, why don't I ever see an article from you about things like that. But hey, you aren't bias, are you? [beam]

Even if you forget the immigration stuff, this guy took thousands of dollars in bribes from moneyed sports interests and then justified at least part of it by saying it was his son who benefited. How come nobody ever offers my kids free Rose Bowl ticket's?How stupid does he think his constituents really are?Russell Pearce is just another bought and paid for politician, and if you vote for him you prove him correct regarding your intelligence.

I agree largely with my namesake here (I am an attorney, not a retired cop). The question is whether we want more of the same with Mr. Pearce at the helm. I think not.
As to "illegal immigration," I consider our U.S. policies unjust when applied to folks who were truly invited here under no uncertain terms. Yes, we had INS and laws that forbade their coming, but for decades we tolerated them and even welcomed them with jobs, and a variety of accommodations. To suddenly turn around and send them and their American kids away is, under the circumstances not only immoral, but foolish.
Two points. Basha's which also owned Food City, was forced into bankruptcy largely because of the plight of the immigrant community which the Food City stores catered to. Ask Basha's if SB1070 and the like were good for business. Secondly, wesee within the last few weeks that Volkswagen is building a new plant in . . . . . . . . Mexico. Neither situation is ideal for the US. Do we really want to continue damaging the US economy and do we want to send more jobs out of our country? I think not.
That does not mean that we should not protect our borders. That does not mean that we should give amnesty to those who entered illegally. It DOES mean that we should recognize, as the CATO Institute, the U of A and ASU have done, that the undocumented immigrant community provides a net economic benefit to our economy. This consortium of human beings consists of many, many hard working and honest folks who, if we would actually work toward a solution, could perhaps pay a fine and continue to be good workers, neighbors and friends - even if we decline to allow them to be citizens and give them certain benefits.
No more of the same for me.

So DavidNichols, if what you say is true, opening up the southern border to mass immigration will be a boon to America? The only real question here is how many illegal aliens are in Bill's family. Must be quite a few the way he is willing to attack Pearce with every word he writes.
So let's look at his adversary in this race.
TRUE Vetted Lewis Facts:
1) Lewis committed fraud against Arizona by falsifying the number of students at Sequoia Schools, which he used to manage until the State forced him to resign. Lewis asked Joy Christian, doesn't take public funds, to have their students log on to Sequoia to inflate the number of students.
A 2009 Audit by the State of AZ showed that Lewis defrauded taxpayers $1.9 million by Lewis falsely reporting an additional 400 Joy Christian students. Lewis was forced to resign and Sequoia had to pay back the $1.9 million to AZ. For more information, go to Sonoran News.
2) Lewis then became the manager of Pappas School, for underprivileged youths. Lewis was caught "light fingered" taking from the Homeless Donations. The lawsuit by the teacher(s) is open and pending in MC Superior Court. Click on the link at Sonoran Alliance to print the court documents.
3) Lewis at the debate equated AZ TODAY with the worst of the lynchings, KKK, and other civil rights travesties. Lewis "AZ is seen as something akin to 1964 Alabama". (AZ Rep video or Trib)
4) The article in the AZ Capital Times by a University of Phoenix lawyer(s) that Lewis' "slash and burn" tactic in the Cortes lawsuit were brutal and unconstitutional.
Quotes" The BEGINNING OF THE END OF DEMOCRACY IN ARIZONA. So let's hope no one ever brings a lawsuit like this again".
"After establishing just how far, exactly to the political Right these people can be found on the spectrum, (Lewis') Ryan executed what was probably the MOST CONSTITUTIONALLY REPUGNANT PART OF HIS LITIGATION STRATEGY -he required each to list every single political ally be name..their political beliefs and goals of their friends."
"The government has no right to pass judgment on the associations of its citizens-political, religious, ideological, or otherwise. Yet (Lewis') Ryan asked a Judge to INVENT A LAW whereby such associations can also give rise to legal and criminal liability." (AZ Capital Times article)
5) Lewis claims to be a Republican-no Democrat is running because Lewis is the "sham" Republican. The State GOP and Maricopa County GOP broker tradition of not endorsing a candidate when more than one is running because they KNOW that Lewis is a plant. Pearce has the support of the prominent Republican AZ state officers and legislators.
6) Lewis refuses to criticize/denounce his puppet master, Randy Parraz. Parraz is a union organizer and promoter of class warfare paid $117K a year by the unions (unioncheck.com) to disrupt and attack conservatives. Add in Lewis' La Raza (kill whites) and AZtlan (return AZ to Mexico) buddies-Snow, Parraz, Grijalva, Pastor, Reze- and you have a witches' brew.
As US Senator Trent Franks stated in his endorsement of State Senator President Pearce, please do not allow the "Looney Left" to take over Arizona, "flooding Million(s) into the state from outside unions , to pay for Open Border Activists to swarm Mesa's neighborhoods.

What I don't understand is how a person could call themselves a .."master police officer" and at the same time support a "illegal activity".
I guess I am old-fashioned when I thing of a "Law Enforcement Officer" as someone who........."enforces" the Laws.
But then when you see Hispanic American citizens dragging the Stars and Stripes along the street and the gutter and spray-painting graffiti and putting a toilet seat on Old Glory and then call it......"undocumented immigrant justifiable political expression".
When your scream curses and wave banners and posters calling the death of an American Serviceman as "God's Will" at the funeral...and call it "justifiable political expression".
When you have a President calling anything that a White cop does in America as "Racist".

Update On Lewis: Lewis stated at the Oct 25th LD18 meeting that he-Lewis-was fired 2 out of his 3 jobs.
Lewis was FIRED as a CPA. Lewis was forced to become a charter school manager leapfrogging all the experienced teachers and administrators by Lewis' buddy, Maricopa County Supervisor Stapley. Search AZ Rep and there are pages of the 118 indictments against Don Stapley.
As TeaParty Patriot (love your name) stated" Lewis was FIRED from his first school for frauding the state by $1.9 million by falsely claiming an additional 400 students. Be fired or jail.
Then Stapley gets Lewis a second job at another school where the teacher(s) file a lawsuit claiming Lewis stole from the Homeless Donations.

@BillRichardsonMesa: You speak of the economic "value" of ILLEGAL ALIENS. However, I noticed you didn't mention anything about the COSTS incurred by ILLEGAL ALIENS that US CITIZENS must endure. Anyone that is truly interested in the TRUTH can perform a search in whatever search machine they prefer and seem that the COSTS OUTWEIGH the benefits you speak of.
Also, if they are truly interested in becoming citizens, why not earn it like so many others? They are entitlement minded, and I'm tired of helping to pay the bill!

I would think that by now, many good citizens are beginning to realize why Bill Richardsonn is not missed by many of those who used to work with him and are still serving the citizens of Mesa. You see, Bill has real hard time doing an investigation using facts and following the evidence trail. Bill would rather invent a story and then sensationalize it, instead of following the evidence trail in order to write a good arrticle based on that factual evidence.
Take note of how not once, has Bill ever mentioned the bad work history of Jerry Lewis, including the fact that he was fired from a job for incompetence while managing a company owned by a couple from his own ward. The financial damage ot the company left in his wake, was enormous and devastating. The fact that Jerry Lewis would stoop so low as to falsely report the amount of Jerry's Kids enrolled in a charter school he was tasked with running, only goes to show just how lacking Jerry Lewis is in intergrity and good character. I see a connection there between Jerry and Bill, only it's not a good one, in my opinion.
Not once and any of Bill Richardson's biased hit pieces, has he ever mentioned the enormous financial burden to this country and its taxpayers, caused by the massive amount of illegal aliens who infiltrated our country. Remember 9/11, Bill? Yeah, that's right, some of those terrorists slipped across our porous borders and killed American citizens. Phoenix earned a bad reputation as being the kidnapping haven of the world. Why? Because of the nasty, vile, disgusting illegal alien criminals operating here. Hey, Bill, remember that shoot out in Phoenix not all that long ago? Know why those illegal alien hitmen didn't murder any of our police officers? Because they ran out of ammo, not because they had a warm, fuzzy feeling for our cops. Not that you care, Bill.
Bill Jr., my guess is it won't be long before you make an appearance in front of the State Bar. You're following in Bill Sr.'s footsteps, in that you can't get your facts straight. Volkswagen may be building a new production facility in Mexico, but it's NOT the first time. They had one there previously. The reason they closed that one was because they got a better labor rate in Ireland, the same country of Ireland who manufactured the DeLorean DMC gullwing cars that were so terrible in quality, they had to be gone over at the port facility when imported into our country. Volkswagen is more concerned with their bottom line then the quality of workmanship that goes into producing their vehicles. For now, the cheaper labor rates may be once again in Mexico, but as soon as global conditions change once again and they will, that plant could be packed up and the equipment shipped off to a country like India.
Another fact for you, Bill Jr.. Volkswagen had a manufacturing facility in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where they made the Rabbits. The unions caused them nothing but grief and inflated costs. It wasn't long before it was closed, moved to Mexico, and then to Ireland. Our policies in Arizona regarding the enforcement of our immigration laws has NOTHING to do with Volkwagen's decision on where to build a manufacturing plant. So, Bill Jr., the next time you feel the urge to write ignorant comments like Bill Sr. is famous for, please don't. It only makes you look ignorant. But then again, like father, like son.
David Nichols, please go back to school and get your GED. Your knowledge about our country's economic problems are seriously lacking. Our bad economy was caused by many things, including and especially very lax governmental loan guarantee polices, that gave a green light to many mortgage lenders to write loans that NEVER should have been considered in the first place. Thanks to Barney Frank and friends, and especially his pet agencies, Fannie and Freddie, the housing market was overbuilt, buyers got loans that never should have been approved, and in the end, the bubble burst and you now see the end result of a seriously flawed government backed loan guarantee policy. It is a matter of fact, that Bill Clinton tried numerous times to reign in Fannie and Freddie, but was blocked in his own words, "by democrats". George Bush also tried to clean up Fannie and Freddie to the tune of FOURTEEN TIMES while he was in office, each and every time being blocked by democrats.
David Nichols, it's not the government's duty to put you into a house and make your payments for you. It's up to you to go out and support yourself and your family, including saving like the rest of us did to put money down on a home, and then being able to afford the mortgage payments, in addition to earning enough to pay the other bills and put food on the table. Your statement that our nations economic problems are a direct result of this country deporting illegal aliens is not only inaccurate, but laughable and absurd as well. Anothe thing, David, did you know that THOUSANDS of illegal aliens got Fannie and Freddie backed mortgages? Yep, they sure did. Did you also know that some of those same illegal aliens remortgaged their Fannie and Freddie backed mortgages, the took those nice piles of cash back and fled back to Mexico, leaving the U.S. American Taxpaying Citizens holding the bag? Yep, they sure did. But then, you really did know that, right, David?
To the good citizens of Mesa, who like me, live in LD18, I would you to take a moment and ponder this thought. Why is it that not a single person who lives in LD18 has started a recall drive against Senator Pearce? Why is Parraz, who lives in NORTH SCOTTSDALE and NOT in LD18, so concerned about our well being? The answer is clear and obvious. Parraz has a long history as a hired gun working to unions and other socialist progressive, Anit-American causes. I have and always will be true to myself, my family and my country. I would rather eat a bullet, then sell my soul to the likes of Parraz, Lewis and Richardson. Senator Pearce has done EXACTLY what he promised he would do and what we, the people, elected him to do. Therefore, there is absolutely NO reason to toss him out of office. I WILL do the right thing tomorow in the voting booth as I have the guts to do the right thing. I hope you all do, too.

SB1070 is supported by a large majority of the people of Arizona, so unless you're calling us all KKK I would suggest you make your slanderous accusations elsewhere. A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed all of the civil lawsuits filed by Maricopa County officials and Superior Court judges against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former County Attorney Andrew Thomas, and the FBI has been harassing the Sheriffs Office for years without coming up with a shred of evidence concerning racial profiling. Well I'm getting tired of being called a racist member of a hate group by this person and the trib doesn't do anything about it. How about that tribune? You allow people to call some of us KKK and Nazis and refer to our elected officials the same way but if I spelled out the "N" word to describe Jesse Jackson I'd be banned from posting here. Is it because the "N" word describes a protected race but KKK and Nazi are used to describe whites? Looks like a double standard to me.

I've kept out of this messy argument, until now that is. How long will the Pearce drum be beating? Try yesterday evening at 7 PM.
Here are my thoughts.
Machine Politics
Regardless of party affiliation, any objective observer ought to recognize the role party sponsored machine politics has played and is playing in today’s two party political system. In Chicago, one had to be sanctioned by the Daley family to get elected. In all likelihood, our current president, arguably a closeted moderate, had to run as a Democrat in order to get past first base. Here in the West, getting past first base usually means one has to be a Republican. The list of successful Democrats in Arizona is a short one. Outside of Tucson, Terry Goddard and Janet Napolitano pretty much comprise the entire list. And both of them had unique circumstances propelling them forward, inept machine opponents.
Look at what political endorsements are sought in primary elections. Heading the list has been Joe Arpaio’s. He also has been an elector, a person who appears on the ballot for selection to a trip to Washington to cast our collective vote for president, a prestigious yet archaic practice if ever there was one.
Things might be changing. Arpaio stood fast behind his candidate for Senator from Mesa’s District 18, his former lieutenant Russell Pearce. And Pearce championed SB1070, a means to put Sheriff Joe back into the illegal alien profiling business, a business recently taken away from him by Federal Authorities. After a life time of being a Federal Authority, one would expect Joe to understand how the machine works. But maybe he never caught on.
Regardless, Russell Pearce now lies in the dust. The party machine failed to deliver him from his disappointed voters. The machine antics played did not work. Does this mean Jerry Lewis will be Pearce’s permanent replacement? Heck no. Does this mean District 18 voters are catching on? Perhaps.
It took another registered Republican to unseat Pearce. And the machine likely will be oiled next time around. Should Pearce get the nod again from the party machine to run in the next primary, Lewis is likely to go down, unless of course SB1070 dies at the US Supreme Court, then Lewis just might win. Or Lewis might try changing party affiliation to Democrat. Then at least we might see another Pearce vs. Lewis general election!

It's a sad day in the history of Arizona the day extremist lefties fooled republicans into helping them to oust one of the greatest senators this state has ever produced. A sheethole like Mesa never deserved such greatness. Russell Pearce is larger than Mesa will ever be. A drive through the heart of Mesa shows it to be nothing but a terd world city full of terd world thinkers. Russell Pearce will go on to bigger and better places, and the fight to decimate the filthy scum invaders from the south will not end here today. Pearce helped to start the ball rolling and it's picking up speed. Look out terd world invaders. We are coming for you, and we will kick you out of our state and country. Perhaps Russell needs to consider running for Jon Kyl's US Senate seat. He'd be ten times better for Arizona than flaky flakes could ever be. In the meantime, all you illegal supporters join hands with La Ratza and do the hat dance in celebration. You deserve to celebrate a job well done. Then get back down in your bunkers cause the war isn't over by a long shot.
