Legalization of something does not necessarily make it a good idea. It was once legal to own a slave. Democrats who voted against abolishing slavery in 1864, have been doing their part ever since to enslave Americans to one social program or another. Obamacare is just the latest example.

For years, Americans have been abundantly blessed with a mostly free-market health-care system in which competent physicians at state-of-the-art health-care facilities deliver the latest medical care. Yes, that care comes at a cost, but the alternative, which Obamacare will certainly create, is rationing.

Now that the Supreme Court deemed Obamacare's individual mandate for what it is -- a tax, Democrats are attempting to redefine it as a penalty. It's just their nature. Why call it a baby when you can reduce it to a fetus? Why bother worrying about illegal aliens when the term "undocumented workers" sounds so much more nebulous? I'll go halfway; let's call it a "penalty tax."

Lies, lies, and more lies.

No tax increases on the middle class: Has anyone noticed Democrats are always talking about strengthening the middle class, and yet almost all of their legislation ends up hurting it? It's the new "trickle down" theory. Take money from the top and sprinkle it over everyone else with no plan for growth. What you get is an increased lower class and a dwindling middle class. To make matters worse, Obama's administration keeps redefining down the definition of middle class.

President Obama pledged (his word, not mine) "No family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase." Wall Street Journal's senior writer Stephen Moore claims almost 75 percent of Obamacare expenses will be funded by those making less than $120,000 annually.

Trying to get ahead by doing a little investing? Think again. Section 1411 of the law will levy a 3.8 percent "Medicare tax" on capital gains, dividends, rents and royalties. The plan also penalizes "Cadillac" insurance plan holders by charging a whopping 40 percent excise tax — unless they are part of the White House's chosen few who were given permission to opt out. Overall, Obamacare imposes 18 tax increases at a cost of $503 billion mostly funded by the middle class and the elderly via Medicare cuts.

In other words, there are no freebies that aren't paid for by the same middle class taxpayers Obama purports to defend. Odds are, many of you reading my column will be recipients of this broken promise.

Medicare will be protected: Well, not actually. Funding cuts of more than $500 billion, in addition to more than 150 new provisions, will affect quality care. Like any business, physicians cannot remain in practice when their profits don't keep pace with costs to do business. Obamacare will bleed them dry. It may not happen overnight, but rest assured, it will happen, and when it does, the government will be right there to fill the gap with government-run facilities. Ask veterans and their families how that's working out for them.

Medicare's patient-doctor relationship will be preserved: Much like the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS), Obamacare is more about cost control than quality care. The NHS determines medical needs based upon a calculation created by economists, and uses it to determine who does or does not receive treatment. We're not there yet, but Obamacare pushes us in that direction. Baby steps. And former Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) had the audacity to suggest the Republican vision for health care boils down to letting people die. Physician heal thyself!

Obamacare will not add to the deficit: Democrats' pants should be on fire for this promise. Research done by experts at the Heritage Foundation reveals Obamacare is "a trillion-dollar budget buster" and claims Democrats rigged their numbers using "budget gimmicks, sleights of hand, accounting tricks, and completely implausible assumptions."

One of the greatest things about America is that we have the opportunity to right our wrongs by way of the ballot box. What the Supreme Court declared as constitutional voters can declare as history come November.

If we are ever going to get out of this $16 trillion dollar mess, both party incumbents need to be thrown out of office. The only sanity left in Washington is the slow but growing group of Constitutional TEA PARTY leaders, who should replace not only the Democrats, but the majority of Republicans who don’t comply with the ‘Rule of Law’. If we just vote for the same mixture of low key criminals, we will never recover from the issues that plague us? Whether it’s the 20 million illegal aliens and the strong criminal element amongst us, they should not be rewarded for breaking our laws; the law abiding citizen and green card holder are carrying with financial support billions of dollars annually. Nor should we forget the state, county and municipal governments, who are just as guilty in stealing, tax payer’s money, to support the illegal alien invasion. Join the growing millions of TEA PARTY members at your local chapter, as this is the only way America can survive. WELFARE COSTS FOR CHILDREN OF ILLEGAL ALIENS EXCEEDS $646 MILLION IN JUST LOS ANGELES COUNTY ALONE– CAN YOU EVEN COMPREHEND THAT FIGURE?

SPEAK UP AND DON’T LET THESE MENTAL INCOMPETENT FOOLS GET AWAY WITH THESE LIES. NOT ONLY ILLEGAL ALIENS PILFERING EACH OF THE 50 STATES WELFARE, FOOD STAMPS, PUBLIC HOUSING, EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, BUT NOW STEALING OUR TAX MONEY.

E-Verify are still currently voluntary, but if it were made mandatory, illegal migrants and immigrants would be locked out of the mainstream workforce, and change to the Birthright citizenship bill. A simple amendment would halt forever illegal aliens coming here and taking advantage by using their unborn children as a right to citizenship welfare. If E-VERIFY were passed by Washington as permanent and an amendment to the BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP ACT, it would definitely stem the millions of foreign pregnant Mothers who come here draining states and federal treasuries. You the voter have the power to stop the THEFT of your taxes.

I have no sympathy for the population of California, as they keep on voting for the same clowns in Sacramento with the approval of the head Clown Governor Jerry Brown signed what is called the anti-Arizona law. But remember in States where there is little or no enforcement of voting laws such as the Socialist-Marxist –Liberal state of California—ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE VOTING. What is going to happen now with this ‘Sanctuary state’ is millions of illegal alien families are going to converge on California, as its open day for public welfare and other services. In 2006 illegal aliens withdrew $1 billion dollars in state uncompensated assistance and that doesn’t include education.

WHISTLE BLOWER TELLS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS DEFRAUDING TAX PAYERS.

Although the truth seems to remain subdued, the illegal alien child tax credit is ready to resurface. My guess the IRS, the Obama administration prefer the truth not to come out. This however is a very serious situation, especially when Whistle-Blower steps forward and tell the truth about this disgraceful state of affairs. This is an article from the NumbersUSA website, which the open border fanatics would certainly not want you to see:

The Treasury Department’s Inspector General determined that $4.2 billion was paid in 2010, up from less than $1 billion in 2005. Leading Democrats are resisting a bill that would stop future payments. YOU MIGHT DEMAND FROM THE OBAMA INJUSTICE DEPARTMENT, WHY ARETHEY PURSUING ARIZONA, ALABAMA, GEORGIA, UTAH, SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOME OF THE OTHER STATES, WHEN THEY ARE TRYING TO PROTECT THEIR LAWFUL INHABITANTS FROM THE ILLEGAL ALIEN FINANCIAL INVASION?

In WTHR’s latest report on Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) abuse and fraud, the Indianapolis NBC affiliate discussed revelations brought forward by an IRS whistleblower - "We were being told by upper management to ignore fraud, to assign ITIN numbers and...Pay out refunds to people who are laying…It's a license to steal when you allow that."

Howard Antelis, a tax examiner at the IRS's ITIN processing center in Texas, contacted WTHR after seeing its series on ITIN fraud. He and other tax examiners said that IRS managers, for years, instructed them to "look the other way" while processing ITIN applications that appear to be fraudulent – even if they contain clear signs of criminal activity.

One time, Howard decided to investigate ITIN applications for dozens of children attending the same school in South Carolina. (Adult tax filers can request an ITIN for a child in order to get child tax credits and a larger tax refund.) He discovered the school didn't exist, but his bosses ordered him to approve the scam applications anyway.

Howard said, "We're tax examiners but the truth is we're not supposed to look into anything…It's like an assembly line…Get it out of here and don't worry about the fraud. Fraud slows us down…We're supposed to protect taxpayers, so somebody had to say something." He decided to call the Inspector General's office in Washington, D.C.

The IG's office sent auditors to interview Howard and other tax examiners. They learned that IRS employees were actually encouraged to ignore signs of fraud. The final report on the investigation, which took over a year, will be released this summer. It's expected to show that millions of illegal aliens can get ITINs by filing fraudulent paperwork.

"It's pure negligence by management and they've been trying to keep it quiet," Howard said. "There is a criminal element that is defrauding the U.S. government by filing mountains and mountains of these fraudulent applications…[The IRS managers] don't want to deal with it. That's where all the fraud is. The fraud is in the fake notary stamps and fake documents which we've been accepting…There is a state-by-state list of notaries that shows which are registered and legitimate, but the IRS won't let us check those registries."

After WTHR first reported on ITIN mismanagement and fraud, the IRS sent senior officials to investigate the ITIN processing center. WTHR says this has led to tax examiners getting more training on identifying fraudulent paperwork and equipment to help them better inspect documents. Also, illegal aliens must now prove their identity through original, certified documents.

Howard’s revelations did not come without a cost to him personally. The IRS dropped his job performance rating, which affects his paycheck. The IRS claimed his job performance dropped from "exceeds fully successful" to "minimally successful." Still, Howard wants to continue his fight for ITIN reform. "I just want to see things fixed. We've been allowing the U.S. taxpayer to get robbed for years now and those days appear to be over."

Geez Britt you're a really big wind bag !! This was about the ACA not illegals.
Re: this report as time changes so does the story Back when this was just coming into view all of the budgets showed that in the first years of ACA it was going to increase the budget but after that it would save billions.I don't get where Brown gets the idea that healcare is free unless she doesn't have any and goes to the ER for her treatment. We pay for the care plus depending on your soverage a small to large deductable and then there's a spending cap each year or life time. You can not always go to your Dr because he or she is out of the insurance program so you may be stuck with some quack. or worst.
What this program ( ACA ) is trying to do good or bad is change that. Coverage for all bt you still have to pay for it base on income or if you already have coverage. Cover preexisting condition, whidh ins. now don't cover. Like ai said good or bad this ACA will help everyone but we must give it a chance not like Ms Brown.

Why this woman continues to have a presence in this media is absolutely baffling. Other than her tea party rants, she has nothing to say of any importance.

"For years, Americans have been abundantly blessed with a mostly free-market health-care system in which competent physicians at state-of-the-art health-care facilities deliver the latest medical care."

I almost spit out my coffee when reading this...a mostly free-market health care system?! What fantasy world is THIS in?? Here in the real world, insurance premiums and malpractice suits have skyrocketed costs, and that has absolutely nothing to do with any free-market economics.

Lies, mistruths, falsehoods and fabrications - the title of the article should describe the subject matter, not the author of this diatribe.

"Why call it a baby when you can reduce it to a fetus? Why bother worrying about illegal aliens when the term "undocumented workers" sounds so much more nebulous?"

As long as the author is going to subject us to her non-sequiturs, I may as well respond:

Susan, are you completely delusional? A fetus is NOT a baby, and an illegal alien is NOT an "undocumented worker". Anyone trying to conflate either of those issues is guilty of "lies, mistruths, falsehoods and fabrications".

    Susan,
Your words are true. More lies and deception by this Administration. More government control and fewer freedoms for citizens. While most of the taxes in Obamacare do not take effect until after the elections, the electorate will not understand the consequences of Obamacare's oppression until it's to late. If re-elected Obama will hear the cry and wail of the oppressed then call for a single payer healthcare system there by making it a "fait accompli" for complete government control of healthcare. Welcome to the world of Obama's progressive socialism.

"For years, Americans have been abundantly blessed with a mostly free-market health-care system in which competent physicians at state-of-the-art health-care facilities deliver the latest medical care"
If you can afford it...I'd rather pay eighty dollars (man that is one heavty duty tax, mandate or penalty their dumping on us) a month payment. I guess one persons health insurance premium is another persons tax, mandate or penalty.
Susan obvioulsy didn't hear about the woman that died of cancer because she didn't have affordable health care. The President gave her sister a hug...I didn't see any republicans doing the same. We may have the best healthcare...but I guess if you can't afford that Premium or that Tax or that Mandate, you don't deserve to live. Be careful what you wish for Susan.
"Has anyone noticed Democrats are always talking about strengthening the middle class, and yet almost all of their legislation ends up hurting it?"
I just love Republican Smoke Screens...wave something over here while doing just the opposite of what you preach over their.
I do taxes...I come from a family of Certified Public Accountants...and Susan severly misleads on the cost to the middle class. First...if you make under that two hundred and fifty thousand...well let's put it this way, I haven't seen medical deductions for the middle class like these in years. I usually skip over healthcare
deductions...I won't be doing that in the near future with deductions that will more than offset the premium, tax, mandate or whatever label you want to put on it. For most of us in the majority that make under that two hundred and fifty thousand, I highly recommend this plan...yeah I'm not Stephen over at the Wall Street Journal, but I'll guarantee you that his boss makes over that 250 limit...you know...the editor.
Susan also failed to mention the eighty/twenty rule. If your healthcare costs less than eighty percent of the premium paid, you get a refund. That might help pay for that tax, mandate or penalty.
I can understand why susan is so upset about paying an excise tax, I'd be upset too if down the road I wanted to improve my looks (trust me...they ain't worth improving) I'd have to pay the excise tax on Cosmetic Surgery. Susan, if you're going to break it down...give us the truth and not your version of "Lies, lies, and more lies". The rich will pay that excise tax for services rendered...can they afford it...more so than that woman who died of Cancer could.
I think Susan is correct though, "Medicare will be protected: Well, not actually. Funding cuts of more than $500 billion, in addition to more than 150 new provisions, will affect quality care. Like any business, physicians cannot remain in practice when their profits don't keep pace with costs to do business. Susan...doctors have had the shackles removed...they can do more procedures...they don't have to deny services based on insurance company needs or medicaid payments. They will make more money from ACA then they ever thought of milking out of Medicaid or Medicare or VA medical center services because insurance companies love to deny coverage. Something ACA doesn't despite you claim it actually decreases coverage and services rendered.
Doctors...can't live with em and you can't live without em from the insurance companies point of view...but insurance companies can dictate which services they can render down at that fancy hospital you so proudly waved in our faces.
With no restrictions on doctors, I think those physicians will be free to practice medicine as they see fit to save lives and not the insurance company version of it or a republicans..."let em die".
Susan, If you don't need the 500 billion that goes to the States for medicare and medicaid costs...yes...by all means eliminate them. That's the great thing about ACA...we don't need them anymore...I'm sure alot of republicans are crying in their milk this morning here in Arizona when they realize that fed funding for their pet projects will dry up soon. like I said...the states may get funding from the feds for all kinds of healthcare needs, unfortunately the mandate isn't there that forces that fed funding for healthcare programs at the State Level. I wonder what Arizona did with the six billion in federal funding for healthcare programs...cover a bunch of SB1070 and other legal costs like the supreme court decision.
I wonder how much that editor over at the Wall Street Journal makes annually to review the article you so proudly wave in front of us by Stephen Moore.
"Section 1411 of the law will levy a 3.8 percent "Medicare tax" on capital gains, dividends, rents and royalties." Susan, most of us down here in the middle class trenches that I'm in don't have tons of money going to off shore accounts for tax evasive purposes and we most certainly don't have concerns when it comes to capital gains, dividends, rents and royalties...only the wealthy need concern themselves with those one percent goodies. My tax liability last year was zilch nada nothing in that category and I make under one hundred and twenty thousand a year.
The Alternative...the State of Arizona continues paying three billion out of pocket each month for medicaid and loses the six billion from the fed. No mandate...maybe we need one. Eliminate the need for Medicaid and Medicare and eliminate the three billion need in the state budget. As one that does taxes...the feds can cut five hundred billion from the fed budget by eliminating the
those funds going to the State Level...of course...a number of Republican held legislatures and governors are screaming bloody murder at losing those billions for their pet projects. The bottom line. ACA will provide better medical services at the private level by putting more money into those hospital and doctors wallets making healthcare better than they could have ever hoped by receiving funds from the State or private insurance companies.
"Obamacare will not add to the deficit: Democrats' pants should be on fire for this promise. Research done by experts at the Heritage Foundation reveals Obamacare is "a trillion-dollar budget buster"
One of my favorites...the Heritage Foundation...run and operated by the Koch Brothers...hmmmm...The ones that launched the political WMD against Obama and his health care. Beg the questions...how much did you get from that band wagon to write this heavily biased article...maybe your complaining because that payment you took from the Koch Brothers for this article put you over the two hundred and fifty thousand dollar limit.
Here's a trillion dollar budget buster for you Susan. The Federal Reserve Bank....no...not part of the federal government...a privately owned and operated corporation...run by bankers That charges this country to print and stamp our money and lest I forget...they charge interest on that money to print or stamp it, which means this corporation creates a debt for the US before that money is ever spent. Correct that mess and I might buy into Koch Brothers healthcare plans that only benfit the few.

Healthcare and those that really pay for it.
    Wait for it...Wait for it...
When the light bulb goes off in the brain and we have one of those eureka moments,
some of us think to ourselves...duh!
I recently had one of those duh moments and I'd like to share it with you. I know...I'm changing the subject, but in a round about way it comes back to ACA.
The thing that amazes me are the numbers being tossed around. When I was kid
growing up in Montana, one the first things I had to do early in my elementary years was count to a million and write it down on paper. That's cruel and unusual
punishment in my humble opine. Now that I'm sixty, I'm glad I did.
I started looking at the State Numbers on Medicaid and no this isn't going
where you think it is...but I like numbers. They speak volumes to me.
Arizona had over nine billion in medicaid costs. Seventy eight percent of that
went to acute care. Eighty four percent of that went to managed care and
    health plans.
    Managed care:
...intended to reduce unnecessary health care costs through a variety of mechanisms, including: economic incentives for physicians and patients to select less costly forms of care; programs for reviewing the medical necessity of specific services; increased beneficiary cost sharing; controls on inpatient admissions and lengths of stay; the establishment of cost-sharing incentives for outpatient surgery; selective contracting with health care providers; and the intensive management of high-cost health care cases. The programs may be provided in a variety of settings, such as Health Maintenance Organizations and Preferred Provider Organizations."
We can break this down further, but the one thing that strikes me as at least curious
Eighty four percent of the medicaid spent in Arizona goes to state programs that
manages health care needs rather than providing healthcare needs. Arizona gets
six billion dollars annually to manage healthcare needs?
And you thought it was Anchor Babies.
Maybe we don't need to inflate our medicare and medicaid...We don't need it.
I think those Doctors and Hospitals would be better served by a system that
actually covers our medical needs rather than leave us scatching our heads
listening to some political pundit tell us about managed care. I thought we were getting rid of all politicians.
It's true...you will have to pump up medicaid and medicare if you want to keep it
But who really wants to keep it. Do you Mr. Taxpayer. I'm a Democrat (OK I live in
Arizona) and I don't want to keep it..
    Wait for it...Wait for it...
The only ones that stand to lose billions on this deal are those that manage our
healthcare needs to nothing. Our Governor and the Republican Party that
brought us quality managed healthcare. I didn't think there were that many
Medicaid Patients in Arizona. Now I understand why.
Of that six billion...you do the math, my brain already hurts...eighty four percent
of seventy eight percent goes back to the State. I think that's somewhere between
    four and five billion.
Four billion to administrative costs. How many state employees did Gov Jan put on
leave of absence because she just didn't have the funds to pay wages. I wager none of them worked in that department that managed those health care costs.
With ACA, you don't need managed health care in Arizona or Florida or Texas
or any other state for that matter. The only thing getting beefed up in those states is
somebodies back pocket and I'll guarantee you it ain't the Anchor Babies.
But this is all getting off track...I need to get back to the source of who actually
    pays for all this healthcare.
I didn't know that the Federal Reserve Bank not only prints and stamps our money
(outsourced jobs...you gotta love em) but they also charge US interest.
    LIGHT BULB!
Before our money hits our pockets the ones that own our money...yep...the
Federal Reserve Bank (LIGHT BULB) loans it too us. I think we need to talk to there
boss the FEDS. What? There not What?
The Federal Reserve Bank is owned by bankers under the label of a
Corporation...Auntie Em...Auntie Em it's the wicked warlock of the East.
They could be a woman...it could happen.
Let me see if I got this straight and please correct me if I'm wrong.
The Federal Reserve Bank is a privately run bank owned by individuals under
a corporate flag that owns US money. They print it (I'm sure costs are involved
there) and then loan it to whom...other banks...the US Federal Government...
other corporations. Then they charge US interest and we're in debt before the
money hits the fan...US. We're what...fourteen trillion in debt to this outfit. And
you thought social security was sucking US dry. Even Germany showed
    mercy to Greece.
Maybe it isn't healthcare we should be concerned with...maybe it isn't social
security we should be concerned with...maybe it's those folks down at the
Federal Reserve Bank that regulate all banks. Is the Federal Reserve Bank
    Regulated?
Who pays for our healthcare...I guess you might even say the Federal Reserve
Bank does...well that's not quite true either...they just loan us the money with
interest to pay for it. Could that be considered a tax on your health care benefits...
    Sick em ISSA.
Here's an idea...What backs the money down at the Federal Reserve Bank...
    LIGHT BULB!

Fantastic article Susan and so true. I really enjoyed Brittanicus overview because it's what has happened in America accelerated by the Obama administration. My guess is the last chance to stop this train wreck is in November.

Not sure even how to debate your comments Pinmason because the subject matter is too broad to debate. But I'm in the tax field too and you're dead wrong about the impact on the middle class. How it was sold by Obama and what it really is are two entirely different things which is normal operating procedure for the Obama administration. The Wall Street Journal quote that over 75% of the healthcare costs will be on those making less than $120,000 is true.

Observation: "For years, Americans have been abundantly blessed with a mostly free-market health-care system in which competent physicians at state-of-the-art health-care facilities deliver the latest medical care. Yes, that care comes at a cost, but the alternative, which Obamacare will certainly create, is rationing."

Response: While the US ranks number one in the most expensive healthcare system in the world, it ranks 37th in the world according the the World health Organization.

Observation: "Section 1411 of the law will levy a 3.8 percent "Medicare tax" on capital gains, dividends, rents and royalties." And goes on to say that the whopping 3.8% is on the income as described above is on those earning over $250,000 annually.

Response: If you are making that kind of dough on passive income, the chances are you really aren't middle class.

Observation: How is it no one...especially Ms. Brown, isn't bellyaching about the federal highway system funded 90% by the federal government and 10% by the states. Well, federally funded medical care is almost exactly the same...mostly federally funded and the function (road building) is provided by private service providers (private construction companies).

Ms. Brown shows once again she has nothing substantial to offer except an ideology that compels her to bellow against a President she disagrees with on an extremist, fundamentalist level.

    davidflucier you're misinformed.

How do I know? I've read the bill and I read plenty of tax research not some hack at MSNBC who works as Obama's cheerleader where you really don't find honest reporting.

Obamacare is socialized medicine, period. It will add millions to the roles that we can't afford now, care will be rationed, and with the number of doctors that are leaving practice because of it - care will be substandard. Over 75% of those costs will be borne by those that make less than $120k. It's not a one-off point as your medicare tax quote. There are over 20 additional taxes that the middle class will have enforced.

The only thing Obama has done well is stoked up that resentment and envy quotient of class warfare.

Have you considered that many of those folks that make $200-$250k are small business owners? How willing do you think they will be to hire more people when they know they will be punished through increased costs? The ones I deal with sure won't. Many I talk to now close to retirement are going to shut down their operations if Obama is reelected.Others are widows that earn money from investments. How well will the stock market do now?

Liberals just don't get that there's a cost to an action. We're $16 trillion in debt with a president that hasn't produced a budget since elected. How anyone would vote for him again is beyond me. This election isn't about Republicans or Democrats. It's about cooperation on BOTH sides to fiscal responsibility.

Personally I think things are going along just the way Obama wants - pure destruction.

Yup the US healthcare system is so bad that people with money from other countries flock here to get important care. Those who think otherwise bought into Micheal Moore's Cuba has a great Healthcare system garbage. Yes, that is why people risk their lives to float on rafts to get out of there. Call me crazy, but I think poor people and illegal immigrants have gone to county or emergency rooms for some time for their free care. What will change? I don't hear small business owners or Doctors saying how wonderful they think it is. Those will be the paries that determine whether this is good or bad in the end.
