“Once again, a police dog’s name will be added to the capitol K9 honor memorial, killed by the incompetence and neglect of his policeman partner.”

“Tom Patterson’s article in the EVTribune 9/9/12 edition talks about transfer payments to our needy citizens, but ignores the enormous government transfer payments to the wealthy — whether individuals or corporations. He is right that we will need moral fiber to change our situation: In a society where a person’s standing is determined by his or her wealth, convincing those who have amassed large amounts of money, assets and power to share the cost of the government which protects them and creates economic opportunity for them will be difficult in the extreme.”

“To the Venter who suggested on Friday, 9/7, that Mitt Romney has a problem connecting with women due to his Mormon faith believing that women are “subservient to men” — you apparently are not familiar with the Mormon faith. One of their most prominent documents ‘The Family: A Proclamation to the World’ states: ‘...fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners.’ So try again.”

“The Venter who thinks Mormon women are subservient obviously knows very little about Mormon teachings or our history. LDS women have always been considered equal partners with their husbands and our doctrine has always strictly warned husbands against being domineering. Women have always had an equal part in the sustaining votes of church leaders and Utah was the second state to allow women to vote in civic elections.”

“In response to the Venter who claims that if ‘one were familiar with the Mormon faith’ they would know that the women are subservient to the men, I say this: Obviously this one isn’t familiar.”

“Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan claim more unemployed people have just given up on looking for work. The only people who have given up on work are the GOP’s own fact checkers!”

“What has the Republican Party done to help the economy the last four years besides pass voter fraud laws, pass trans vaginal ultrasound laws, try to repeal Obamacare several times and turn the pre-existing dogs loose on children, strengthen the NRA so more innocent people can be slaughtered, weaken labor unions that provide safety, health care and retirement for millions, cut funding for education at all levels, sign a pledge with lobbyists undermining the Constitution, and vote against equal pay for women. It’s like they want to take us back to a time when J.P. Morgan ran this country with a monopoly.”

Vent #1 - It's so sad when a K-9 dies, regardless of how it happened. They don't deserve to die like that.

Vent #2 - I'm not sure what you'resaying, so I'll just let it go.

Vent #'s 3, 4 and 5 - Since all three say basically the same thing, I'll put it all in this one comment - Bravo. I totally agree. Don't attack the canidates because of their religion(s).

Vent #6 - Actually, that's not true. The job numbers were released on Friday. The only reason the unemployment went down is because severalthousand people gave up looking for work. ANd they're not counted in the unemployment rate. If they were, the unemployment rate would be well above 10%.

Vent #7 - They've also done a lot of good things. And all Obama has done is raise our debt by nearly $6 trillion.

Republicans are far from perfect. But they are the better ones to get the job done. All the Dems want to do is raise the taxes on the "wealthy" Do that, and EVERYONE will suffer as a whole.

If you think we have "poor" people, think again. The poorest people in this country have color TV's, and cars, often more than one.

Also, the poorest people in this country live better than the middle class in the Phillipines.

"The only reason the unemployment went down is because severalthousand people gave up looking for work."
I keep hearing this claim - care to back it up? I've even indicated I feel the same on this issue, but if you're going to make a claim, support it.

"The poorest people in this country have color TV's, and cars, often more than one."
Such ignorance - it's pathetic and disgusting. We have homeless families living on the streets, trying to find meals in garbage. GARBAGE.

"the poorest people in this country live better than the middle class in the Phillipines."
I would love to see a picture of a middle class Phillipino family living under a brdige and sifting through garbage looking for a meal.

Oh and mrconservative - speaking of claims that need backing, do you recall your claim that there is scientific proof of spirits? ;)

Vent #1: Wait the last officer that killed his K9 partner won a big lawsuit for being arrested by MCSO and charged. Are the partners of K9s not to be arrested for such actions when the normal citizen would be charged with animal cruelty.

Vent #2: What would those transfer payments to the wealthy be? Refunds, tax breaks, food stamps, welfare payments? What is the wealthy "fair share", the top 20% pay 70% of the federal income taxes, when 47% pay no federal income taxes. How much more "fair share" does the wealthy have to provide. Our present administration is trying it's best to punish the successful while spending more and more. Obama's class warfare of redistribution to establish a "dependent" class, dependent on big government "social justice" programs.

VENT # 6: “Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan claim more unemployed people have just given up on looking for work....”

Due to an chronically arid job market, only 96,000 people got a job in August, far fewer than the Obama Administration were hoping for. The real rate of unemployment is 23%, not the official figures given on a regular basis. The 23% figure is all unemployed, including discouraged workers who have given up looking for jobs and have dropped out of the work force, those working part time due to the absence of full time work, and many veterans looking for work.

Unemployment has hit hard during the past 43rd consecutive month . . . So, President Obama is now asked the American people to give him four more years to get things right (this time) and to put millions of Americans back to work.

But, while campaigning, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has said the new job numbers and the real unemployment situation are reminders of the President Obama's failed economic policies.

chatty there are quite a few goverment payments to the wealthy and corporations. Often they are one and the same because most wealthy people are incorporated.

The government gives the oil companies BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies even though they are very profitable and would be making plenty of money without them.

The government gives corporations many subsidies such as fast depreciation on certain assets ... try to take a depreciation on your automobile on your income tax and see what happens ... but businesses do.

There is LOTS of corporate welfare -- but that is unmentionable and untouchable as far as Republicans are concerned.

But, for every dollar of corporate welfare, the government looks to replace it by taxes on the middle and lower classes that don't even know what hit them.

Just as when during the Reagan administration they took away the deduction for interest except on your primary residence. And they also made unemployment insurance taxable so you had to pay tax on any unemployment benefits you received where previously you didn't have to pay on that. They figure you had enough trouble without being taxed on unemployment .. but the Republicans disagreed.

They used those tax increases on the middle and lower classes to fund the tax cuts they gave the wealthy.

You can thank the Republicans for making you pay higher taxes so their top people can pay less.

Vent #3, 4, 5: Attacks on Mitt Romney because of his religion or his understanding of the relationship between a man and his wife are just a rant of an anti-religion or anti-Mormon extremist.

Vent #6: So the government jobs report is wrong in saying that thousands of people quit searching for jobs? If that is the case then I kind of expect the next Obama administration's jobs report to say that the unemployment rate has been lowered to what he promised. Heck, you can almost guarantee it will say that before the election.

Vent #7: We will never know how much better we could have been under republican leadership. Instead we got Obama and he is lost while Harry Reid has stopped almost all of the good stuff the republicans in congress wanted to do.

EV, I will back it up - it was in the report itself. Don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself.

EV, I recommend that you read this book: “The Case for a Creator: A Journalist Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points toward God” by Lee Strobel. Guess what? He was also an atheist at one time in his lfe. But thankfully, God found him.

By the way, my dad served his mission in the Phillipines. He told me this himself. I thnk he would know, having been there for a couiple of years in the mid-1970's.

Tell me, EV, do you believe in miracles? I do. I am livng proof that miracles are real. I don't have time to tell you how or why? But if not for someone else I knew growing up, I would not be the person I am today. I may not even be alive today, if not for him.

Read two books, you can find them at the library: "It's a Miracle" and "It's a Miracle 2". Both books are complied by Richard Thomas, who was a host of the TV show years ago with the same name. Not every story is about a life being saved, and not every story ends happily, but everyone of them are a true story. I loved rading them, and I even remembered a few of them from the TV show itself.

"- speaking of claims that need backing, do you recall your claim that there is scientific proof of spirits?"

YOU are proof that spirits exist. YOU have a spirit within you, otherwise, you would not be alive.

Oh, and LOL@Lee Strobel - that hack has been defrauded so many times I've lost count,. Is that really the best you can do?

Here's an idea: instead of reading books that seek to falsely justify belief in the ridiculous, try cracking open a biology text or science book. You'll actually LEARN something.

Would you quit calling people like Lee Strobel hacks? It's disgusting and wrong. Just stop it.

Lee Strobel is a good man. He let God find him - why can't you?

And no, you do not find God - He finds you. He is not lost. You are.

By the way, I never saw your reaction to my Zac Brown Band song quote - I forgot what page it's on. I'll I'll put it here to see what your reaction was. I never got to see it.

I thank God for my life
    For the Stars and Stripes
    Mat freedom forever fly
    Let it ring
    Salute the ones who die
The ones who give their lives
So we don't have to sacrifice
    All the things we love

If you truly believe that there is no God, nothing I say will convince you, but I will say it again: I KNOW there is a God. I KNOW it. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION.

If you will not accept that, it is your own fault.

I think it's kinda funny - someone once said that nothing is going to startle us more than when we pass through the veil, when we see God again - He will be so familiar to us, it will shock all of us. Including you.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the look on your face. It will be priceless.

(And, in my above comment, it's supposed to be "May", not "Mat". I just barely noticed that mistake.) [smile]

Do you know what a lie is, EV? It is deliberately saying something that you know is not true.

Based on that, I have NEVER lied here, not even once.

You, on the other hand . . .

"The essence of a lie is not the words you choose, but the message that you convey."

Know who said that? Take a wild guess. I think I've put that quote here on this EV Trib site somewhere before.

"Do you know what a lie is, EV? It is deliberately saying something that you know is not true."

"There is scientific proof of spirits" <---You either know that is not true, or you are delusional. Either way, it's still a lie.

"Based on that, I have NEVER lied here, not even once."
Another lie to add to your long list.

    How pathetic.

"Would you quit calling people like Lee Strobel hacks? It's disgusting and wrong. Just stop it."

He is a hack, a fraud, a liar. and a conman.

    And he's your hero...what a surprise! LOL

"I KNOW there is a God."
And yet you continue to evade and flee your claims, rather than produce the evidence to support them. Sad and pathetic...dishonest too!

"I'm really looking forward to seeing the look on your face"
And I'm really getting sick of your cowardly superstitious threats...your mom must be exhausted! (now watch the child whine about mom comments while ignoring his repeated threats)

    What a complete tool.

    Here you go, mrconservative.

Lee Strobel exposes HIMSELF as a liar, a fraud, and an uneducated dolt who has no understanding of evolution, or even the scientific method.
