The Honorable Janet Napolitano says that this whole thing (the Secret Service, prostitutes, and the military) is “inexcusable”. Probably so. Not too many people would raise their hand, stand up, and try to make excuses for bad behavior. Not me.
Bettie Wright from Surprise offers a very different point of view (I liked going to strip clubs in the past; April 25, 2012, Arizona Republic) on the whole thing. If it’s all about freedom and liberty, and prostitution is in fact legal in Columbia, then she may have a point.
There is another perspective that I haven’t seen or heard from anyone — politician or media. Amongst all the outrage over this bad behavior, I haven’t heard a single, “Get over it. It’s realistic. It happens.”
I can’t speak about WWI; I’m sure it happened in WWII, as well as Korea, and every other military theater in the world — and probably Iraq and Afghanistan. America’s best are incredibly resourceful. The fact is that Americans must have already forgotten about Vietnam — another example of the very short American memory. During my time in Vietnam, there was lots of sex, drugs, and bad behavior conducted by U.S. military and civilians from all walks. I’m guilty, and I worked for one of the service’s “security groups” reporting directly to the NSA. OMG! NATIONAL SECURITY!
I guess my point is, don’t feel too good about your pious self-righteousness. Deal with it. Get over it.

I don't use theories. Where the head of the CIA went ot Crawfort Texas Aug. 6, 2001 to report to George W. Bush of a pending 9/11 attack, Bush did nothing.

How did we stray from Secret Service misdeeds and dealing with them by not dealing with them to the Stand Your Ground laws? Or is dealing with Stand Your Ground laws just another example of having to deal with human nature? Heck, were so, ought not we to repeal all laws governing manslaughter and murder?

WHAT DO THE STATISTICS SHOW ? Before 2005, Flordia civilians committed on average of 12 justifiable homicides a year. Two years after the laws passing, that number serged to more than 40 a year. Other states with stand your ground laws have seen similar spikes. An analysis of the FBI data by the office of New York city Mayor Michael Bloomberg shows that states that pass STAND YOUR GROUND LAWS saw a 53.3 % increase in justifyable homicides in the three years after enactment. States without such laws experienced a mere 4.2 % increase. " These laws are vigilantism masquerading as self defence," said Bloomberg.

Having worked with the Secret Service, having been invited to those "wheels up" parties, I have known that these "boys will be boys" for almost four decades now. And I agree. The solution is to have more women in the force. They the boys are not so apt to misbehave. They fear that the girls will tell on them.
I was surprised to learn about there being parties before "wheels down."
