“Birther,” used by the media with impunity, is a derogatory slur, the equivalent of the “N” word used for another group to cast them as sub-human.

You apply this new “N” word to a huge group of politically-active Americans who’ve raised legitimate questions on a legitimate topic.

These Americans remember Sen. McCain was grilled by a Senate committee over the same issue — eligibility. The man currently in the White House, for reasons that remain unclear to this day, avoided such reasonable scrutiny. These people ask, “Why?”

These citizens noticed that when Obama refused — flat-out refused — to release relevant documents you let him slide. These people noticed that when papers finally emerged, after unconscionable delays, irregularities were so great even amateur sleuths could spot them. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office found remarkable inconsistencies that point to deliberate fraud.

To demean and ridicule such socially-conscious, politically-active Americans with their own “N” word violates journalism’s codes of ethics (AP, NY Times, SPJ) that require you not only to be unbiased, but to avoid even an appearance of bias. Inflammatory use of this offensive denigrating smear and “birther bashing” announces your prejudice loudly.

Don't take this the wrong way Alan but you are a flippin loony bird. Forget everything else; his mother was a US citizen. Get over it; the president is black

Good letter Alan Korwin – on Liberals “birther bashing” and the flashing of birther references.

U.S. Passport Agencies requirements are for each applicant to obtain and present their original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the country of birth, showing the date and place of birth and the parents.

    In other words proof.

But yet the Liberals do not include U.S. Passport Agencies’ passport requirements (at U.S. Department of State) as quote-unquote “birtherism”.

I thought Mexican was the new "N" word. Truly you do have a point. He never got the attention he deserved. It's almost as if an unknown power that rules in the shadows gave him a pass to the white house. Clearly he isn't qualified for the position, but perhaps his agenda and this shadow government share some agenda that mindless Americans refuse to look too carefully at. Banning guns is a very high priority in any regime that wants to maintain control over the masses so that could be it. The shadow government is composed of people who consider themselves to be multinationals so American sovereignty is important to diminish. There may be other things they share in common but the two I mentioned are probably the highest in importance. Franklin and the rest of our founding fathers gave us a republic and it's up to us to keep it if we want freedom. Socialism is just another word for no freedoms left to lose. Naturally, under socialism, there cannot be any room for dissent.

Alan, to start with you run into trouble with this phrase " who’ve raised legitimate questions on a legitimate topic ".
    ******
This is NOT a legitimate topic. Obama's citizenship has been attested to by numerous Republicans, including the Republican Governor of Hawaii.

This is a RACIST topic. Birthers refuse to accept that a N-word is President of the United States of Whites.

More Limbaugh Lies ... there were no irregularities beyond those produced by right wingers altering the published documents and claiming they had found " irregularities ". Of course they found them --- they made them.

    OMJB!

Now I've seen it all... a Birther defending the lunacy that is Birtherism by comparing being called a Birther to being called the "N" word.

That is, without a doubt, about the most asinine thing I've ever read.

Sheriff Joke hasn't found anything or, being the media hound he is, he'd release it. Right now, Mr. Korwin, Joe is wasting your taxpayer dollars on a fool's errand.

Birthers do deserve to be mocked... mocked in the same manner that 9/11 "Truthers" deserve it. Both camps willingly ignore any fact that doesn't fit their pre-conceived conclusion.

Oh, and as to "why hasn't the President released" documents?
    1) He has, and SoS Bennett now has verification that the birth certificate released over a year ago is genuine.
    2) Federal law actually PROHIBITS the public release of many personal records. Especially ones covered under the Privacy Act of 1974.
    3) And most importantly, the burden of proof is on the Birthers, not the President. And, since every Birther case has been laughed out of court and the Queen Birther Orly Taitz has been fined for her frivolous nonsense, it appears to the rest of sane America, along with the legal system, that Birtherism should be relegated to the dustbin of crackpot conspiracy theories.

Here's a test for you, Mr. Korwin:

Call one of these "politically active Americans" a birther to their face.

Next call a Black American the n word to their face.

When you come to, hopefully you will see how ridiculous your argument is.

A Certificate of Live Birth is not a .........BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

LOOK AT THE DATE STAMPS...ONLY ONE SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED YET THERE WERE TWO USED.

THE INDIVIDUAL TYPED LETTERS ARE NOT IDENTICAL. I USED THIS SAME TYPEWRITER IN THE MILITARY. IT USED A ROTATING BALL. EVERY LETTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MIRROR IMAGE OF ALL THE SAME LETTERS....YET ON THE OBAMA (OR SOETORO OR WHATEVER HIS REAL NAME IS) CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH (NOT THE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE THAT WE ALL HAVE) SHOWS DIFFERENTLY IMPRINTED LETTERS = FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

    A PROUD, PATRIOTIC "BIRTHER".

Leon, you do realize that Obama released his long form birth certificate last year, right? And you do realize that Romney refuses to do the same even though there are many who believe he was actually born in Mexico, right?

Birther is not the new "N" word. It is the new "M" word: Moron.

Aside from "truth"'s comment, which is right on, because the media is bought and paid for, no. The fanciful story of a baby born in Kenya, flown to the U.S. and getting a certificate of live birth is hardly disproven. A bit unlikely, but hardly disproven. If I hired the man I could ask to see his birth certificate as a private business owner, and if he presented what was posted on the Internet, which was a palpable fraud, I could fire him. You, employed or unemployed, what will you do? Guess we'll find out before the year's out. Frankly, I'd give him a chance to explain and if he didn't, I'd reluctantly fire him for lying to me. But it's your call. The subject is a "dead horse" the question is how good a "boss" are you?

HRPuckinfutz, great name, but Romney just released his birth certificate today. It was published in a Reuters report. I dare this Obamanation to release his to the press. Every conceivable document concerning Romney's life is available. The Obamanation spent more than a million dollars in legal fees to prevent the public from seeing every document there is about him. The only document of his birth is a pdf file online at the White House web site, and most everyone that has examined it has said it is a phoney. Even The Obamanation's lawyers fight to keep it from becoming evidence in any litigation concerning his legitimacy.

Consider there is zero evidence that Ann Obama left Hawaii anytime in 1961. None.

Consider Hawaiian officials for four years running have repeatedly confirmed that Obama was, indeed, born in Honolulu. Full faith and credit should end the matter right there.

    Consider the contemporary newspaper conformations.

Consider the repeated affirmations by every branch and division of reputable journalism, political institutions and government have, for decades, repeatedly confirmed his place of birth - from the Arizona Republic to the Democratic Party to John McCain and Mitt Romney, to the CIA, FBI, courts, 54 state and other election officials. They are unanimous.

People who call themselves birthers fall into one or more of four categories, those who:

    1. Disingenuously raise the question as an ideological strategy;
    2. Disingenuously use the issue to pander to certain segments of the population for political or monetary gain;
    3. Are spooked into a paroxysm of paranoid fear and trembling by President Obama's skin color (that would be racism) or ideology (that would be ignorance);
    4. Are plain crazy.

It boils down to opportunists lacking in any kind of ethics, very dumb people or lunatics.

    Birth Certificate Whac-A-Mole
    By Nick Chase

Would you like to play a neat parlor game with your friends? Barack Obama's long-form birth certificate forgery contains so many forger's errors which are visible to the naked eye or which can be seen on your computer under slight magnification that you can play a fun game finding them, either alone or in a contest with your friends. It's similar to the arcade game Whac-A-Mole, where you pound a mechanical mole back into its hole before it disappears on its own and randomly reappears in another one of the five holes in the game. You can score by time per defect -- five points for each one found within two minutes, for example -- or by total score -- five points for each defect for the length of the game. (Note: Conservatives will generally spot these defects more quickly than liberals do.)

To see these defects, we need to use the digital PDF of the forgery released at whitehouse.gov. The reason for using the digital PDF is that it is the original forgery -- rather than the Savannah Guthrie photo or the T-shirt I used in my article "Oblivious to the Obvious," published in American Thinker on April 10, which are a generation removed and can introduce distortion -- camera-lens distortion or twisted T-shirt fabric. Also, you need to view the PDF on your computer screen, because some of the defects are not visible if you print the PDF on a computer printer and then look at the printout.

    So let the game begin!

Rational Human, please, provide some detail. Enlighten us with your forensic insights. And for the record, I was born a mere two weeks after President Obama, and my birth certificate looks surprisingly similar.

For those of you who think the type should be all neat and nice, welcome to 1961. This form was most likely typed on a manual typewriter. Electric typewriters in 1961 were very expensive. Many hospitals and other non-profit agencies could not afford them. The type on manual typewriters was often uneven. It all depended on how hard you hit the keys and where it struck on the ribbon. Documents back in the sixties and seventies were often sloppy due to the difficulty in recreating them from scratch. Obama's birth certificate could have been in and out of the typewriter 10 times before the final product was issued.

And as for Romney releasing "every conceivable document" related to his life, he has still not released his tax returns. Why? Because he does not want anyone to see how little in taxes he paid on the pain and suffering he caused so many Americans. He is a hypocrite to talk about how China is stealing American jobs after he bought American companies, laid of the American workers, and sold those companies to China, all while making a $42 million profit for himself. He wants to talk about China stealing American jobs? He's an accomplice to those thefts! How can you vote for a man who profited off of other people's misery?

If Alan Korwin means that “Birther” is the new “N-word” and N stands for “Nut-Case” he’s right on. It only takes a wacko like Donald Trump, a lot of conspiracy freaks, and a senile, self promoting sheriff to make the package complete. With over 3000 counties in the U. S., Maricopa County had to be the one to make our sheriff the laughing stock of the country. It seems like we are a magnet for extremes of all kinds, especially the “don’t confuse me with facts” variety. The only legitimate question here is “Is it something in the water?” These “socially-conscious, politically-active” minions are self demeaning and deserving of the ridicule they have earned with their inane disregard for coherent thought.

The simple fact is that most people see the "birther" movement as completely crazy, because it is. Every single shred of "evidence" that the birthers have brought up has been disproven numerous times. However, we can equate birthers with other conspiracy theorists such as Bigfoot advocates, 911 truthers, etc...

Often, these conspiracy theorists come in with a preconceived notion of the event (and the world). They grasp onto anything they can to foster their preconceived notions. When they are presented with evidence that goes counter to their belief, they will either ignore the evidence or state that it was faked.

A prime example is the long form birth certificate. You have birthers like Irrational Human claiming that it is a fake. The problem is that they rely on "experts" hired by birthers, whose express purpose is to say it is fake (while presenting no actual evidence). Like HRP, I was born a year after the President and my birth certificate also has many of the same "errors" that the President's birth certificate has. Does this mean that I wasn't born in the United States? Of course not, it simply means that the "experts" were wrong.

A second example was the claim of the document expert stating that the BC was faked because it was "layered". One of the local newscasters ran their own birth certificate through the software used by the state of Hawaii. The result was that the newscasters BC had even more layers that President Obama's.

The last resort of the birthers can be seen in Rich's post. Instead of providing proof that something did happen, they try to force us to prove that it didn't. You are the one making the claim, now prove that it did happen that way. Just because something can happen doesn't mean that it did. After all, it could rain money today. It may be highly unlikely, but it could. That doesn't mean that I should have to stand outside to prove that it doesn't rain money.

Public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies study shows that half of registered voters are not convinced that Barack Obama’s birth certificate, released in 2011 at the White House amid fanfare and proclamation that it is “proof positive” of Obama’s eligibility to be president, is authentic. About the same number don’t believe he is eligible to be president, and the skeptics also say he has not provided adequate and “authentic” documentation of his qualifications to sit as commander in chief in the Oval Office. Of course that doesn't count all the people, just those who can or will register to vote.

Nearly 33 percent of the respondents say they do not believe Obama has “provided adequate and authentic documentation that he is qualified to serve as president.” Another 14 percent say they are uncertain. Nearly 53 percent say Obama has documented his eligibility.

So I guess you are probably right when you say most people, but how can you just dismiss the other 47% of registered voters who aren't sure or just don't buy it at all? If I were president I would want everyone to be sure I was qualified. That sad truth is that this president has spent more than a million dollars in legal fees fighting to keep every document related to his life from public view. Those who support him have their reasons to ignore the issue and throw the race card anytime someone questions his birth records, but the fact is that it just hasn't been resolved and it wont be until long after this clown is out of office.
