Live in Arizona? Live near the border? Think things are scary now? If our Sheriffs lose their authority, get ready for a nightmare.

The hard, undeniable, truth is this: Any country that finds itself deluged by an invasion of illegal (and at times, criminals) must act to protect its borders. The particular level, whether Federal, State or Local, of enforcement is, in my opinion, not particularly relevant. The increasing cost to the taxpayer and the rising rates of crime are.

Folks in Phoenix and Arizona suffer a heavy burden. Our taxes are being drained by extra expenditures on hospitals, schools, and social services. The burden is especially egregious when Arizona’s citizens are impacted — often terrorized — by cross border drug trafficking and violence. If we shackle local law enforcement, things can only get worse.

Actually, samkat, I gave the wrong measurement. It's the rate of illegal immigrant flow into the US that has decreased. This according to the DHS http://www.dhs.gov. If you call that the Obama administration's baloney, then I welcome you to find another outfit equipped to measure that statistic annually, on a scale quite a bit larger than the Gilbert/Broadway-eyeball-survey you use.

eyes: Do you have factual evidence that the illegal alien population or are you relying on the Obama administration's baloney? The numbers of illegal day laborers has not decreased at the corner of Broadway and Gilbert which is one measure I use. As to shackling local law enforcement, Holder and crew have been attempting to do so since SB 1070 was implemented.

VOT: I will go with level headed citizen.

I didn't know our sheriffs patrolled the border. Oh wait, they don't - the border patrol does.
Get real, Mr. Gray. There is no deluge, nor an invasion. The illegal immigrant population has actually decreased in the last few years.
What "nightmare" are you talking about? Things being the same as they were before SB1070? What is this letter suggesting is going to happen to "shackle" local law enforcement?

This guy sounds like a racist Republican just like JT Ready. Or maybe he is just a level headed logical citizen of the state of Arizona that shares a concern about border security. Hmmmmm

For those who have been hit by invading drivers with no insurance, robbed, raped or kidnapped --- it's a bit late to start worrying about the border now.

But, those folks don't count. Stopping the invaders would cut into profits of businesses who want cheap labor and politicians who think the invaders will vote for them.

According to Dale Whiting, they are coming across the border to improve themselves and to pick lettuce and tomatoes for Americans.
