Now why would some “journalist” assume the tea party is losing influence? The RNC convention was full of members. I have to wonder where such “journalists” get their views. The last time I checked, the tea party was gaining influence.

Let’s put it this way: President Obama is losing support and popularity due to his failed economic plan. He is losing or is even with Mitt Romney in the polls(which typically lean Democrat). The tea party sits firmly behind Mitt Romney and is against the policies of the Obama administration, which has a steady promise to raise taxes (and not only on the rich).

Obamacare will raise taxes to the middle class as well. In addition, Obama has vowed time and time again, to do away with the Bush tax cuts. The tea party stands behind its principles. With unemployment rising, gas prices on the rise, Obamacare, illegal immigrant amnesty, corruption at its highest, the tea party is making its voice heard. When government can’t balance their own budget and continues to spend and spend, raising taxes on any of its citizens (whom they serve) is anti-American. Get your house in order before you consider taxing the American people more.

The TEA (taxed enough already) party is alive and well and will continue to be, as long as the government is out of control on spending.

I am a Tea Party Patriot, mock me if you must, ridicule me if you will. But I believe in our Constitution, our Republic and I will vote accordingly.

Yes, as long as people feel that the Government is spinning out of control (16 trillion you say?), whether you call it the Tea Party or something else, the sentiment will always be gaining ground.

True enough, we must balance the budget, but how to dp so is the debate. Where I perceive the Tea Party enthusiasts as an extension of the likes of those who will block all moves to increase taxes on any segment of society, cut government spending in all but the most wasteful area - National Defense - I predict that the Tea Party will cost the Republicans the 2012 election. Sure the economy is doing poorly. But "Trickle Down Economics" is a spoof, a joke, a lie, a naieve dream.

So, Tea Party Patriots out there. What do we cut? What taxes do we increase?

    Dale,
"Trickle Down" would work if Congress wouldn't spend it before it takes effect. After the Reagan tax cuts, Tip O'Neil and congress spent Reagan's tax cut (I'm sure you remember Reagan saying "there they go again"). After Bush's tax cut, Bush spent the his tax cut on the "wars on terror" while Congress played with the housing market. Congress, republicans and democrats, always find a way to spend any increase in revenue on more or expanded programs.

Take Dale the other way, where do you add 1 trillion in taxes yearly to make up for the current yearly deficit? I will assume that there is mounds of waste in the City, State and Federal Government. Especially the latter. Every time they peak under the tent, they come up with duplication, fraud and waste. That is what the Tea Party is asking for to stop.

chatmanduuu == you talk about Reagan and the Bushes " spending the tax cut ".
When the government cuts taxes it has LESS money to spend.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to SPEND a tax CUT.
You can spend a tax INCREASE but not a cut.
When you cut taxes and spend anyway ( the Republican way ) you are spending on the nations credit card == increasing the deficit.
You say " Congress, republicans and democrats, always find a way to spend any increase in revenue on more or expanded programs. " and that is TRUE.
But a TAX CUT is NOT an INCREASE in revenue and CANNOT be spent.
I know the Republican mantra is that cutting taxes on the wealthy results in MORE taxes coming in == but the Reagan and Bush administrations proved that was FALSE.
More tax cuts for the wealth DO NOT produce more JOBS or their would be NO unemployment problem because we have been cutting taxes on the wealthy for the last 30 years and the jobs situation just gets worse and worse and worse.
But try to remember this === TAX CUTS CANNOT BE SPENT.

Excuse me ... I just realized I didn't state something right. I say TAX CUTS CANNOT BE SPENT -- I should have qualified that by adding by government.
Of course the tax cuts can be spent by those who receive them.

I'm sorry, but the Tea Party makes me laugh.

Individual tax burdens are at 60 year lows.
President Obama has signed into law 18 tax cuts/credits for small businesses.
President Obama has cut taxes for 95% of American families.

...and now, after actively campaigning against Romney throughout the GOP primary (don't pretend they didn't), they're "firmly behind Romney', whose tax plan will actually RAISE their taxes?

Nevermind the TP'ers in Congress who:

    - Campaigned against the bailouts but now take bailed out bank campaign cash.
    - Campaigned against the stimulus, but proudly tout local projects paid for with stimulus cash.
    - Promised to reign in spending, but are more than eager to have the taxpayers buy them new cars.

It's time for the Tea Party to be honest about what they're all about. It sure as heck isn't about taxes, those silly things called facts prove that rather easily.
