Based on the opinion columns written by Mike McClellan, I have come to the conclusion that he is of little understanding of the principles of tea party members. While I am not a tea party member, I certainly subscribe to the ideas they represent. For McClellan to debase a group of people who have opinions that do not agree with his own by referring to them in terms that he hopes will make them look small only illuminates his lack of understanding. If McClellan would open his eyes to the truth, he would realize that this country and most of the states are going broke and maybe tea party ideas can save us.
I do however appreciate his admission that tea party types are entitled to run for office.

"maybe tea party ideas can save us"
Maybe they can...but what are they? Not the vague notions, the specifics.
Complaining without offering realistic, sensible solutions does not make for good ideas.

The Tea Party has 3 core values.
1. Fiscal responsibility.
2. Constitutionally limited government.
3. Free market enterprise.
To bad the liberal/progressives can't get on board with these values. Our economy would have been well on the road to recovery. What??? The liberal/progressives are demanding proof!! Well, check out the states that have applied these Tea Party values. Oh yes that's right, they are doing better than the states that fight these values.

Concerning Mike McClellan’s opinion column: Is ‘Total Tea Party Takeover’ good for Gilbert? . . Lowell Popham concludes; “I do however appreciate his admission that tea party types are entitled to run for office.”
With all the Liberal stories about how the Tea Party is losing influence, and how it is no longer the tremendously powerful group of American people. I too appreciate Mike McClellan’s admission that the Tea Party is not losing its influence in Gilbert.

It seems that the Tribune articles got the local yokel tea party all riled up.
Chatmandu, I don’t believe you.
You say the tea party is for fiscal responsibility. Yet you support Republican policies that are not fiscally responsible in any way (borrow from China, spend in Iraq let US middle class pay the bill).
You say that tea partiers are for a “Constitutionally limited government”. Yet you support Republicans who amend the Arizona constitution for nothing (read Article 30 of Arizona’s constitution added in 2008).
You say that the tea party are for free market enterprise. What do you think is going on out on main street? As far as I can tell, the dept. stores, restaurants, auto repair etc. etc. etc. are all free market enterprise.
No - I think what chatman really wants to say is that the tea party is for privatizing education and prisons, fire and police. Why? because privatizing education etc… is the worst fiscal irresponsible thing our state could do.
Chatstew? Is chatmandu also Stewie?

chatmandu002 - Which States are you referring to when you write " . . states that have applied these Tea Party values"?
