“As someone who had to continue working full-time after my husband died 13 years ago, in order to support my two children with special needs, I believe that I could give a fair opinion of the mother with a second (outside) career vs. the mother who chooses to stay at home to raise her children. I worked more than full-time for 25 years before taking retirement to keep a promise to my daughter, who was then completing chemotherapy. I can tell you without a doubt that being a stay-at-home mother is by far easier! Like Ann Romney, I have an autoimmune disease. Unlike Ann Romney, I did not have the luxury of millions of dollars to cushion our existence, but I hold no grudges. We each make decisions and take responsibility for our lives.”

“Under the umbrella of media protection, Scott Bundgaard, Daniel Patterson, and Andrew Thomas have become casualties while Don Stapley, Mary Rose Wilcox and a whole panel of judges has escaped unscathed.”

“The Lovejoys were on TV again tonight, crying crocodile tears over the way Sheriff Joe has maligned them. If these people were so upset about receiving over $700,000 for their tears, why don’t they shun the spotlight? They are like moths to a flame. I still feel sorry for their dead dog and their negligence of leaving him in a hot car. They should have been prosecuted and the money donated to the ASPCA.”

“When HB 2729 (Guns in public places) ‘backfires’ and an innocent citizen shoots another non-suspecting innocent person. Can we fire all legislators and Governor Brewer who signed the bill? Just ‘cause you own a gun doesn’t mean you know how and when to use it.”

“What’s this! The Mesa Police Department is paying to send officers to march in a parade? Sounds like a labor union.”

“The only problem with privatizing a wasteful government agency is the taxpayers will have to pay another super PAC supporting billionaire CEO.”

“To the Venter bemoaning the fact that it has been a warm winter, I don’t deny the fact that the climate has warmed. In fact there have been fluctuations of the climate throughout the history of the world. What I deny is that man has had a part in the change; it is a natural phenomenon. Besides, I bet the people who live where winter is the harshest would NOT complain about a little moderation of the temperature!”

“Jon Beydler, the next time you feel the need to write a column for the Tribune, please do so with the blessings of many who are tired of reading the same conservative drivel from such frequent fliers as Linda Turley-Hansen. You often say what needs to be said about the real issues facing Arizona and our local society. It is refreshing to know that some opposition exists against the political stranglehold we face in this backward state.”

Vent # 1: And latest flap by Democrats about Mitt Romney’s wife Ann Romney.

Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen said on CNN; "What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country saying, "Well, you know my wife tells me that what women really care about are economic issues. And when I listen to my wife, that's what I'm hearing.' Guess what? His wife has actually never worked a day in her life."

Ann Romney responded with her first-ever post on Twitter writing, "I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work."

What Ann Romney forgot to post is that she stayed home to raise her five boys .... along with the gardener, the housekeeper, the cook, the nanny, etc... I'm sure that all of the women out there can relate to how hard Ann Romney had to work!

Arizona Legislators, Senator Bubba Buffull - R. of Deadstick, Arizona has written a bill SB3006, called, THE ROAD ACT. This bill will be similar to Florida's bill STAND YOUR GROUND, under this bill when two Arizonians fear each other and each pull their 1911 A1 or six shooters there will be no laws violated no matter what the final results are. Under SB 3006 if you fear for your life you can hunt down that person and STAND YOUR GROUND and kill that person legally.[beam][beam][beam][beam][beam][beam]

Venter #5 : Most government agencies are far far more efficient than their public counterparts ( if they have one ). For example .. private insurance companies pay out approx 70% of every dollar collected in premiums in benefits to the subscribers.

Medicare ( an agency I'm sure you hate -- probably without having any personal experience with it ) pays out 92% of it's premiums in benefits.

Far far more efficient than private enterprise.

Is there waste in government agencies? Of course there is.

Is there was in private enterprise? Of course there is and a hell of a lot more of it.

Government agencies ( as a rule ) don't pay multi-million dollar salaries and don't give execs huge bonuses.

Private enterprise does and that is wasted money.

Private insurance companies even pay someone to come to your house and brainwash you into signing up with their company. The company pays their salary + commission + car expense == all inefficient waste of money.

Private enterprise wastes money more ways that a person could easily count.

Private enterprise is far far far from efficient -- except perhaps on the assembly line. In the executive offices there is terrible waste.

Venter #1 if your first kid had "special needs" that you and your husband knew would be a huge cost burden then why did you have a second child ???
Ann Romney can't be blamed for being born wealthy...that's the way the cookie crumbles. Just look around...how many people look like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie ???

"Asi es la Vida".= such is Life.....maybe the next go-around your Life will be a bed of roses.....everybody had a ........"s@b" story...........move on.

Venter #1 Amen! We all know that on those days when Ann did not want to work - Ann did not work! On those days when the majority of us do not want to work - we work anyway, we have no choice.

    Venter 7?

Bemoaning the fact? Here are the facts. We have had trememdous climate changes over the eons. There was a time when this earth had no atmospheric oxygen, no water, no habitable climate whatsoever. And where were times when the oceans were fozen solid from pole to pole. But not since this earth became habitable and atmospheric oxygen levels peaked, a time when plant life in swamps an in enormous algae blooms created what today we depend upon for carbon based fuels, have we embarked upon a path turning towards those pre-oxygen days. If we release back into the atmosphere too much of the carbon now trapped, we will see a climate change unprecidented in human history. The question is "How much is too much?" Are you willing to experiment?

Bravo to John Beydler and the Venter supporting him. I too enjoy his articles and find them a breath of fresh air in a sea backward nonsense!

    Cerulean,

Another fine picture! Where do you find this choice art? I haven't seen a fish looking this charming since I went diving off the northern coast of Honduras in the late 70's. I have been told that Honduras refers to the "deep." It has great scuba diving.
