Wow, despite the disclaimer that “Views expressed are those of the authors or artists,” I am beginning to think that you should re-label the Trib as a left-wing rag. You publish Beydler as a guest way too often to have anyone believe that you simply chose his opinion to print from the many you received. Beydler’s left wing rants have been published by the Trib on many topics; print the other point of view for a change. Beydler seems to epitomize the aging hippie who misses the rock concert, free love, “pass the reefer” quasi-social experiment that passed away in the ‘70s. Some of us got a real job and grew up to resent the parasites and cry-babies that make up the Occupy nitwits.

If you agree with Beydler and the Wolverton cartoon, change the name of the paper. If you are trying to show both sides of an issue, print point/counterpoints, pros and cons together on the opinion page.

    Thom,

Have you ever met Sheriff Joe, talked to any of his subordinates who could not stand him so they left, or seen him behind the scenes in action? Jon has and so have I. The Trib reports what they see and what others have seen. Tell us what you have seen of Joe, the "behind the scenes Joe," not the "manufactured Joe!"

Jon was recalled during the first year as mayor of FH. According to news reports, Jon couldn't get along with council. Jon has refused to address this. Were his constituents "wacky". I personally do not enjoy reading his "musings".

Every newspaper in all the major towns and cities in Arizona are Liberal..it's a given. I like reading Letters to the Editor and Columnists and Editor's Viewpoints. Sometimes I even agree with them.
As for the Liberal Media it controls all the News Channels ever Fox News. I don't care because they are "private sector" entities.

What I am upset with it the PBS-ASU TV Station, KAET, Channel 8. They are using "all" the American tax-payers' money to espouse a Left-wing Liberal Agenda. Just watch the KAET "Horizon" (7pm) and "Horizonte" (7:30pm) Programs. They make the "Ed Show", Maddow, O'Donnell and Chris Matthews look like "Rush Limbaugh".....and all on our "dime".

Folks, "Opinions are like belly buttons............everybody has one".

    Leon,

How does one measure whether an idea or opinion is left or right wing? What is a wing? Parlament was pretty much divided down its chamber middle into two halves and members sat next to those other members whose idea and principles they agreed with. They had multiple "parties," so no one party sat all together in one section.

Here in the US with our two party system of politics, both the house and senate chambers use assigned seating, the assignments being given out by the two party leaders, pretty much on a seniority basis. If you're new and a Republican, you sit in the back on the right hand side, an old hat Democrat and your up front on the left. But what about ideas and principles? Did the old DixieCrats sit by themselves on the left? No. Do so called RINOs sit by themselves on the right? No. Put when we express our personal views, there is not chamber to be filled with assigned seating. So let's think of a line of chairs spanning across the board from left to right [or right to left, if you please].

Leon, where do you sit on this political spectrum? I suggest that you sit so far on one side of the full political spectrum and most everything and everybody else appear in your eyes to be liberals, RINOs or whatever. Your generalizations just are not objective, there subjective and your out on the extremes on just about everything, even further out than may be Jon.

Jon's most recent piece was on Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the toughest Sheriff in the West. He gave us his first impressions of Joe and I added mine. We both had Joe pretty much sized up before he made a reputation for himself as being tough. And I have talked with federal agents who worked under him [in Denver if I recall correctly] who still sing his praises. Back then, Joe's reputation was built upon backing up his men, and that pleased them. In an appointed job, internal reputation and sucking up to superiors gets one advanced.

But in an elected position, publicity is king. And Sheriff Joe is the King of Publicity, but not well balanced law enforcement. If there is a camera likely to be available, Sheriff Joe will be there.

other than the New Times, I don't believe there is a liberal paper in the state of Arizona.

Both the Arizona Republic and the East Valley Tribune are conservative.

They allow the occasional liberal post / article in order to claim nonpartisanship, but anyone who has read these papers for any length of time knows better.

Mr. Beydler is hardly a liberal in my book.

I don't agree with the author here, there is an adult counterpoint to Beydler's stunted developement musings. For hall monitor Dale, I can give you the sure fire way to tell if people are liberal, far left, progressive nuts like our friend Jon. They talk freely about how pot should be legal, how the childish and lost Occupiers are just like the Tea Partiers and what great things the chief liberal progressive Obama is doing. That is how you know- pretty easy really.

The only way you can think Beydler and the Republic are not way to the Left is that your farther to the left then they are !
