It is so far beyond my comprehension or understanding how unbelievably gullible almost half of America still is.
Our regressive friends are once again singing the “same old song and dance number” they’ve been singing for decades. You know the old siren song: Cut taxes for the “job creators” and it will actually increase revenues and eventually ‘trickle down’ into your savings account. The sad part is: despite all the evidence to the contrary, 40 percent of Americans still believe it’s true.
Yesterday the non-partisan Tax Policy Center released a report on the Bain, oops, I meant the Romney economic plan and it concluded the wealthiest Americans (like Mitt himself, who paid only 13.9 percent) would get very large tax cuts and to pay for them, everyone else’s taxes would have to go up significantly!
Go ahead, turn on your computer and look up private sector job and economic growth statistics for the past 80 years. Pay particular attention to the fact that both were far better under Democratic leadership and higher top tax rates than they were under tax-cutting Republican presidents.
Then look up facts on how both job and economic growth was 2.5 times higher when the top tax rate was above 70 percent than since it was cut in half to 35 percent.
Finally, please remember the net loss of private sector jobs and weak economic growth under “W” despite cutting taxes for the “job creators.”

Rod,
Believe me after 3 1/2 years of Obama we see just how gullible you and his followers are.

As usual, EXCELLENT letter Rod! I can't wait to see how the conservative "spinmeisters" who dominate this comment section twist this one...you know, the ones who can't handle the truth. It consistently amazes me that they would much rather parrot the Faux News, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. talking points then actually
check the facts.

Rod,
There is a simple answer to every instance you refer to the "trickle down" tax cuts by republicans. The "trickle down" theory does work, every time the revenues start to flow the democrats increase or start a new welfare program which spends the increase in revenue. Check your records for that.....

Willie,
If you are such a Ron Paul supporter why are you for the liberal/progressive side and so much against the conservative side? Isn't Ron Paul a republican?

Gullible, indeed.
In a recent Gallup poll, 40% of adult Americans believed that Joan of Arc was Noah's wife.
And Rod, it's not half of America, it's over 82% of Americans that cling to gullible, misogynistic, racist, ignorant superstitious beliefs, The sad part is: despite all the evidence to the contrary, they choose to remain ignorant.

Rod, it's ironic your trashing conservative budget ideas after seeing how well the Liberal plan has worked in Washington during the last four years. All one needs to do is look at the contrast between California that elected Liberals and is DEEP in debt, and Arizona that elected Conservatives and now has a budget surplus. A lesson we need to remember this November !

So disappointing not to hear some incomprehensible backtalk from The Loon?
Rebel WannaBe, wake up and re-read the letter....history clearly shows CONSERVATIVE economic failure acvross trhe board...have you conveniently forgotten that the last 3, count 'em 3, Republican Presidents are responsible for 2/3 of our nations current debt? How does that support your theory? And most honest analysis would remind you that 80% of the deficit Obama has to take credit for, is hge result of the worst recession in history, primarily caused by conservatives voting to cut regulations on Banks and Wall Street? Please, take off your rose-colored glasses., forget EVERYTHING you've ever heard on FOX NEWS and then clear your mind, get on the Internet as you were asked and spend a few hours searching out the truth...you can usually tell it, by seeking out non-partisan evidence, not stuff put out by right-wing groups trying to perpetuate the lie as long as possible!

And least I forget, A Tea-Party dominated House has done a fantastic job of hamperting economic growth and stifling job creation OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS, all in the desperate hope that they will have ONE ISSUE to pound Obama over the head with, a weak economy.
Stop and consider that: -you are supporting candidates who have deliberately sabatoged our economy and the lives of millions seeking jobs, just to win an election??? Shame on all of you!

Rodini the weenie, are you watching MSNBS again. So why is Liberal ran California doing worse, and Conservative ran Arizona doing much better? as far as the cause of the housing crash. In Bush's first year in office, the White House chief economist, N. Gregory Mankiw, warned that the government's "implicit subsidy" of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, combined with loans to unqualified borrowers, was creating a huge risk for the entire financial system.
Rep. Barney Frank denounced Mankiw, the New York Times reported that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were "under heavy assault by the Republicans," but these entities still had "important political allies" in the Democrats. Economists were screaming from the rooftops that the Democrats were forcing mortgage lenders to issue loans that would fail the moment the housing market slowed and deadbeat borrowers couldn't get out of their loans by selling their houses.
A decade later, the housing bubble burst and, as predicted, food-stamp-backed mortgages collapsed. Democrats set an affirmative action time-bomb and now it's gone off. Surely you weren't going to try and convince us the cold Republican's from the goodness of their hearts forced the banks to give those loans to the poor that couldn't repay them? [wink]

Hey everybody, it is actually guite simple when it comes to Obama. He has no clue about anything - take away his teleprompters and he is lost, send him abroad and he has no clue how to behave, he is socialist to the core and we did not see it all yet. Lived it, know it. Obama is for him self only, he will fight like heck to keep the lifestyle, the power to feed his ego. Wonder, where is the lady, screaming after Obama's win - :he will give me house, he will give me everything:. That was and is the mentality, but it is not happening, is it. And please, no more excuses.

Republican philosophy;
1. Give to others from your heart.
2. You can make it on your own.
3. Be responsible for yourself.
4. It's your money not the government's money.
5. Live within your means.
Democrat philosophy;
1. It's all the government's money.
2. The government will provide for all your needs.
3. You can't do it on your own.
4. Government knows best.
5. Budget? What's a budget?

OK Rodini, If you insist on an answer, I'm going to be nice and just say your probably just clueless. Chatmandu002 will have to answer for himself on which one he thinks you are. As far as the national debt, it hit 1 trillion when Reagan took office in 1981. It hit 5 trillion 15 years later when Clinton was in office. It hit 10 trillion 12 years later when George W Bush was ready to leave office. Now in just three short years under President Obama it's 15 trillion. Analysis - To bad President Obama can't create jobs as fast as he can spend our money !!

Our Nation in Peril
Without question, we face the most decisive election in our lifetime relative to preserving the power of the people over government as provided by our founding fathers. Despite swearing an oath to uphold the Constitution, the current administration, in its first term, has bypassed congress almost daily with hundreds, yes hundreds, of presidential mandates. These mandates illegally give non-elected bureaucrats the power to ignore congressional law as written or rewrite it as they see fit.
This, of course, totally nullifies congress, which represents the elected legislative will of the people. If this administration is reelected in 2012, our march toward total socialism and economic ruin will be assured. In the span of a mere eight years, this president in concert with his appointed czars, will have illegally implemented the final changes to force our United States of America into an autocratic state. One has only to cast their gaze toward bankrupt Europe, particularly Greece and Spain, to see that socialism leads ultimately to failure and despair, not utopia for all, as promised.
American “exceptionalism” will be dead and liberty will be but a memory in the minds of scant few patriots

Flinty here is a link to a list of Socialist countries. The list was as of 2006.
Greece and Spain are not on it.
http://voices.yahoo.com/list-socialist-countries-individual-details-70552.html
Rush and Hannity have forgotten to tell you about the socialist countries that are doing very very well.
You don't see very many people from the Scandinavian countries trying to come to the U.S. and most of them are on the list of Socialist countries.
Actually, very few people are trying to come to the U.S. anymore from anywhere in Europe. They have a better standard of living than we have.
Americans work more hours for less money than just about any industrialized country.
Those whose masters haven't already either shipped their job to China or brought in illegal workers to take their place, that is.
Many Socialist countries have a higher standard of living, better health care, longer life spans etc. etc.
Socialist is a boogey-man word like " radiation " . Right wing entertainers ( they are NOT newsmen ) scream " socialism " as though it were the creation of the devil himself.
Socialism is a competing economic " theory " / " philosophy " and Capitalists are scared poopless of it because it offers the common man a better deal -- SOMETIMES.
Capitalists are on top of the economic pile in America and they, naturally, want to stay there so they preach that any other economic system is evil and their lackeys brainwash their listeners / readers / students / fans.
America is actually a HIGHLY socialized country. If you were to try to refuse to take part in any activity that interacted with the products of socialism ... you could hardly leave the house. You enjoy many benefits from socialistic organizations and never even give it a thought.
Our roads, highways, police departments, fire departments are almost all socialist endeavors.
Those who drink the capitalist kool-aid are always calling for everything to be privatized.
Oh yeah?
Do you really really really want to have to pay a toll to get on the freeway in the morning and pay for each mile with a surcharge if you go over a certain speed, and they pay again to get off?
That's what capitalizing our freeways would do.
Call the police and pay a fee according to what you wanted them to do.
Call the fire department and pay before they will put your fire out. This actually happens right now in some communities.
Don't misunderstand me.
Socialism is neither good nor bad. Just like a gun, it's how you use it.
Capitalism is good --- but it isn't the ONLY good way.
Unregulated capitalism is TERRIBLE.

Anything that doesn't fit with their jaundiced world view is obviously false and not worthy of consideration.
Some branches of conservatism have gone so far over the edge that they call Rush and Hannity liberals.
Right wing philosophy is rapidly becoming a mental illness.
