"Right on, Mike McClellan. I'm glad you agree with Tea Party ideas on smaller government. Let's reduce the lavish salaries and pensions of the teachers in our state and pay them on merit instead of tenure and make charter schools the norm, rather than the rule."

"Four thousand empty junior high seats were created when the district moved ninth graders to the high schools. One can only assume most of the teachers were also moved to the high schools, not fired."

"You know what you call a Democrat who makes as many verbal gaffes as Rick Perry? Vice president."

"Texas Gov. Rick Perry has once again shown just how dumb he is and unqualified to be our president. Hey, wait a minute! Didn't we already have a dumb governor of Texas as our president?"

"For you ‘women should be pregnant in summer, barefoot in winter' guys who think poor Herman Cain is being maligned: from a woman's point-of-view, if it walks like a chauvinist pig, oinks like a chauvinist pig, looks like a chauvinist pig, then it's probably a chauvinist pig."

"I would like to see the NBA owners throw out the current selfish players and bring in new ones. The players want a fair deal, baloney. There are so many people having tough times. Think of all the people put out of work because they want their extra millions. If they do sign and come back, my family won't be watching the jerks. Go Sun Devils and local area high school teams!"

1st venter --- I truly hope your comment was sarcasm. Need a smiley face for sarcasm.

Surely you cannot truthfully believe that $34,000 or so is a lavish salary or pension. Teachers do not make $350,000 a year, although they probably should if you want good teachers.

Coaches, on the other hand, in many schools get paid much more than any of the teachers. Now that is wrong.
    Just having coaches is wrong.

It often seems as though schools from high school on only exist to create ticket buying fans for the sport teams.

There is a junior high just a few blocks from us and on football nights they set off a fireworks display that would almost rival the Town Lake July 4th show.

And then they say they have no money for teachers. Where does all the money for the fireworks come from?

They shoot off so many and so loud that you can't help hear them inside 6 blocks away.

Far too much money is lavished on athletics --- not on teachers.

America is much like Rome. Replace gladiators with football and basketball stars and you have the same situation.

    America is falling from within.

A match made in heaven. Ridriguez and the Pueblo. It may not help the record of the Arizona footbal team but certainly will help will the sale of Football tickets, Go Cats, sick em.
