I’m a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, but I was appalled on Saturday, July 21 to see on local (television) the 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. airing of an NRA-sponsored advertisement, soliciting donations for the NRA and NRA membership: “The Secret War on Guns: Anti-gun schemes threaten American lives and attack American freedom.” This was 30 minutes of hyper-partisan non-stop NRA spokesmen extolling the virtues of guns and vilifying any issues around gun control. And this is the next day, after the “Movie Massacre” killings in Aurora, Colo., using a “legal” AR-15 assault rifle. This is the height of arrogance, of insensitivity and poor timing. Don’t any of these people have any shame?

[sad]I On Sun.the 22nd I saw the same add at 4:00 in the afternoon and called ABC-15. to ask why it was running. The next day she e-mailed me back that they had contacted the NRA and that they still wanted to run the add. So they were given the choice and still ran the add.

The (N)ational (R)epublican (A)rmy has no shame as it continuosly caters to the low educated Tea Party crackpots who only respond to their hairbrained lies and orchestrated money grabbing schemes.

For ABC-15 to broadcast this claptrap only shows me that they must endorse these lies and for the sake of the all mighty dollar are willing to profit from the blood of the innocent. ABC-15 should be ashamed for broadcasting this extremist informercial and apologize personally to the families of the innocent in Aurora.

Unfortunately this is Arizona so I am sure that won't happen because as we all know the right wingers in this state ( and that includes channel 15) could care less for real gun safety legislation.

Short answer - No, no they don't. They fight to keep everything James Holmes did right up until he walked into that theater 100% legal.

Slab - as usual, you're not even in the right hemisphere as either the point of my comment or reality.

Right up until Holmes pulled the trigger, he was one of those "law abiding citizens" that the NRA fights for to keep near anonymous mass internet purchases of ammo and high capacity clips 100% legal.

I'm sure the families of the dead and wounded are grateful to those who think their right to bear arms trumps their right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and to see a movie without being slaughtered.

    John,

While I feel your pain, realize that all of the fuss over the Second Amendment must be understood in the context of the First Amendment, free speach.

    John,
Sorry to hear that you are appalled at the ad sponsored by the NRA. You claimed it was hyper-partisan. When you say it was hyper-partisan we understand what you really mean.
