The letter to the editor “Live by the golden rule” (July 4) was admirable, altruistic and well written. But it fails the truth test. You state that we are “scared.” You couldn’t be more wrong. We are not scared at all. We are angry that this is happening to our great state. I am reminded of that great line from the movie “Network” — “I want you to go to the window, open that window and yell, I’M MAD AS HELL AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY ANYMORE.”
We reportedly spend $2.7 billion a year feeding, medicating and incarcerating these illegal aliens. In case you haven’t noticed, that is about how much this state goes in the red every year. We are told that it is unsafe to enter huge areas of southern Arizona. We lost a rancher who was doing just what you are preaching. We are forced to continue this charade because we have a federal administration that refuses to do anything about it, let alone even admit that it is a reality. Instead the democrat president cracks jokes about 1070. Then there is one of our own, an Arizona democrat legislator who is encouraging everyone to boycott us.
Did you see how Pete Stark, D-Calif. totally dissed the minutemen? Despicable!
So Mr. Diebold, I urge you to wake up and smell the roses. Again, we are not scared. Far from it! WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE WONT TAKE IT ANYMORE.
