Now that election season is coming into full swing, it’s time for legislation (local, state and federal) to be developed in order to curb the embarrassments of public corruption, incompetence and moral decay of elected officials and political appointees — be they legislators, sheriffs or any other public servant on the tax payers payroll.
If law enforcement personnel and others entrusted to protect and serve the citizens of their community are required to be “vetted” (background, security checks, polygraph) prior to employment, then it’s high-time elected and appointed candidates and officials undergo the same scrutiny. This country and local jurisdictions don’t need anymore Obama, Babeu, etc., situations. In many cases Congress could get back to running the country instead of being tied up with investigative committees, which in most cases allow the “gypsies, tramps and thieves” to “skate.”
Now, do we have any politicos with enough honesty and moxy to introduce and follow through with such legislation?
